Wednesday 2nd June 2004 - THE DAY
AFTER MY OPERATION.
Anthony, Cheryl and Lynette called to see me in
the evening. Mr Bem called to see me am. The pain
management team also called; there was some debate
about taking me off the PCA machine. I asked for
it to be left for anther day but they removed it
pm. Feeling very groggy after the anaesthetic spending
most of my time sleeping. The painkillers they gave
me are not keeping the pain under control; I seem
to get them only at certain times and not as often
as I need them. I started to get a numb feeling
on the left hand side of my face; Mr Bem said I
should not be getting that, as they had not touched
anything that affected that side of my face. He
said it might just be with my nerves settling down
after my operation as during my operation I had
been laid on that side. They said they would keep
an eye on it. The physiotherapist called round to
see me pm and gave me some breathing exercises to
do to help remove phlegm that was stuck at the bottom
of my lung.
