Hi to all...

I have referred to "my Danny" in many posts since joining this website back in March. He is my life... my whole world... and I am blessed beyond words to be married to such a kind and wonderful man.

This is the first time that I have posted his "survival story" in this particular forum. So... let me say with joy in my heart (and tears in my eyes) that Danny... a precious 52 year old man from central Virginia (USA) is indeed a SURVIVOR of tongue base cancer. Diagnosed on November 8, 2004... he is ALIVE and doing quite well today. Call it "remission"... call it "cured"... call it whatever you want... He is HERE!

Just this past week Danny became a first time grandfather to a tiny baby girl named Eliza. God is good. Life is good. After our long battle with cancer and not knowing then if Dan would live or die, the gift of seeing the new baby lying in her grand-dad's arms nearly overwhelmed me completely. We are so happy! There is nothing like this new life to bring healing for both Danny and me.

My sweetheart just now called to ask if I need anything from the grocery store on his way home from work. Just that in itself makes me happy. Eating dinner together tonight will make me happy. Eleven months of Dan being tube-fed was a long time to not share a meal... or even a cup of coffee. I no longer take him (or anything) for granted.

Thanks for "listening"... and for all the support I continue to receive from wonderful people on this website. I am so grateful.

From my heart,

Melanie

He sounds a great guy - with a great wife.

He is a SURVIVOR - like me - and is CURED - like me.

I HATE the word remission - it's literal meaning is a temporary respite. I squirm when people apply that word when talking to me.
I think all of us survivors don't like to think that way.

Enjoy life - Tony K

Melanie, Reading your post brought tears to my eyes. How we used to take so many things for granted, and yet, to be given another chance.

May God bless your family and I am so happy for you all.

Congratulations to you both on your new Grandchild, your note made me feel quite emotional. Its true, life goes on. Sometimes we feel we are living in a parallel universe while undergoing treatment, then we hear good news like this. Thanks for letting us know
