Hello everyone, I haven't posted since those first scary months following the initial diagnosis. I have checked in often and found inspiration and support - for that you get many many thanks - especially those who have shared their stories - you propped me up manys a time. It's been just over 6 years since my diagnosis and still healthy. It took awhile - tiredness, eating problems, garbled speech, TASTING problems, and memory problems (darned radiation) - you know the drill, but every year sees progress. Back into the workforce full time working in finance at a health clinic in Ottawa. Any of my previous part-time jobs in the health field were easy - because these people understand and know how to listen - half the battle right there. A few bumps along the way actually finding work - it's amazing how some people react to a disability. The pocketbook took quite a hit during recovery but thankfully I had saved for a rainy day and it was pelting down. Health system covered almost everything - including hyperbaric which really worked wonders - but it didn't cover my posts and cantilever bridge (and I think it cost about as much as the Forth Bridge - I usually say "put 4 wheels on it and call it a car"). All the best to everyone - stay well | |||
