I just found this forum and thought I'd add myself as a proud tonsil cancer survivor.
For more info check out my blog: http://derekparis.blogspot.com/ It's been over 2 years now and I still get the all clear after each PET scan and each ENT exam. There is life after treatment and it can be downright wonderful! |

Congratulations! What a relief!
I just read Ralph's Tonsil Cancer blog and got a wealth of information from it. I begin rads on Valentine's Day and was interested in his blogging from before diagnosis all the way through his sixth monthly checkup. Gives me a better idea of what to expect. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your success story. Much appreciated. That was probably the best Super Bowl game ever! Glad to see the Giants win. |

Hi Derek, welcome to the forum. Like Mum says, it's good to hear from another survivor. Quite jealous of you living in France. We try to go over every year if possible, mostly Brittany. A lovely country. Hagg.
12 years and still kicking it. |

Hello Derek & welcome to the gang!
Good to see another that has got through this mess and come out of it ok! All the best... Michelle -~*Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds*~- ...Albert Einstein |

Hi Mimi,
Raph's blog was an inspiration to me at the time. It was the only one I found back then. Randy (Fine) who was going through the same thing as me almost in parallel was also an inspiration. I kept a daily diary of my experience from surgery through to checkups starting back in September 2005 (http://derekparis.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html). I find it helpful every now and then to go back and look at where I was then in comparison to where I am now... It makes everything relative and generally stops me complaining... temporarily {g}. Life goes on. |

Derek,
I signed on a few hours ago when most of you across the pond were asleep but saw that you were signed on. I wished you'd let us know how you're doing even after two plus years. I expressed it earlier but want to reiterate - I got so much out of your friend Ralph's blog that was linked on your site. When you see or correspond with him, please let him know how much it meant to a nameless/faceless tonsil cancer patient - a surviving and thriving patient, I might add, with an excellent prognosis. WTH - if he has an address on his site, I'll let him know myself. You're now my new favorite geek, surpassing even my son-in-law! Am so glad that your scans are clear and that you continue to thrive. We all love success stories! Mimi |
