Since my mum had her op.

She's still here and still fighting. Hopefully next week she should have a full set of functioning dentures too, which she hopes will enable her to actually chew.

Her goal is a bacon sandwich !!!

Hi Winnie

Congrats to your mom for making it this far! I hope that her new teeth not only work well but also fit properly.

I remember having "goal" foods back in Flappy's infancy. I wanted salmon cakes and cooked carrots as my first meal. Ice cream was a particularly interesting experience: the cold made my flap shrink and stiffen. I tried to tell my mom how tasty the ice cream was, but it came out "dish izh gud, mom." Now, four years out, the only food that gives me any trouble at all is soft bread. It gets stuck on the roof of my mouth and I have to dislodge it with my fingers because Flappy doesn't curl and contract the way my original equipment tongue did. Every sandwich I make at home is on toast for that reason.

Best of luck to you and your mom!

Julia
