Advice needed - detected lump on my palate

Hello. I am posting here for the first (and hopefully last!) time. I have detected a lump on my palate, just behind my left wisdom tooth slightly towards the centre of my mouth. When visually examined, it is mildly red but not sore in any other way. It is quite hard to the touch. I noticed this three days ago but of course do not know how long it was been there. I am 38 years old, smoked when I was a teenager and do drink reasonable amounts of wine. The lump feels like it is about 8 to 10 mm across. It does feel like it could have a bit of a “point” but I’m not sure

I went to my GP yesterday to have it looked at. He seemed a bit inept I must say – he did a physical examination of the lump but in fact didn’t actually seem to touch it. He said it could be an ulcer and I should just wait a week to see if it goes away. This has left me in bad frame of mind. I told him that my initial fear was that I had oral cancer, and he said it was unlikely as this was not an area where you are likely to get it. This doesn’t seem to fit with the information I’ve been reading here.

Am I being paranoid? What should I do? Will waiting a week make any difference even if it does turn out to be something serious?

Dave

Hi, I am posting this here because i have no idea where else to look for advice. My husband has recently noticed a lump(pink colored) on his plate in the mouth. its like if you burn your mouth while drinking something very hot. The problem is that its been a month and it has not changed at all. If it was a burn i guess it should have started healing by now.We visited doctor too but he is not sure what is it. the lump is not at all painful nor does it gives any other kind of trouble.

The doctor has given us an appointment for first week of june. he says if there is no change he will do a biopsy.

Little help please need to know what it may be?

Dear Swati,

May I ask you a question? Oh! forget it, I am going to ask you in any case. Has anything drastic happened so far that you are so terrified? Why are you imagining a scenario that has not happened in such a worried manner whereas you should be laughing and living a life happy as a lark with your hubby. Life is short and each day you spend time worrying or fretting you are loosing so much time and life that was given to you to live. Live it Swati, live it.
With love to both your hubby and you,
Ananth

Hello Swati

If it has not changed , that's a kind of good news. The first week of June is not too far away. So see the doctor and get the biopsy done for a definite diagnosis. Do let us know what it says.

Hope that helps you to stop worrying.

Best wishes
