Hello All,My name is Susan & my dentist gave me this web site today (Check on my teeth in prep for r-therapy. I was diagnosed with cancer in October & had my first operation on the 19th same month (removal of lower left jaw & surrounding lymph glands)unfortunately this op turned into a bit of a disaster & had to have another 3 weeks later!, then a further skin graft after that. Am at home now but yesterday the wound site started to open again! Oh wow, some early Christmas present! Anyway am going to have a browse round the site, Just wanted to say hi first. I live in Ireland by the way, so if anyone else from here reads this please say hi.

Hello Susan

We are here to help if you have any questions. The MCF website has links to information about radiotherapy treatment.

Best wishes

Hi Susan,
You sound remarkably cheerful considering you have been through so much already.
You'll breeze the RT - If you maintain this approach. Once you start - it's like a train journey - a long one but you will reach your destination soon enough.
good luck Susie - keep in touch

cheers Tony K

Hi Susie

Welcome to the board.
You're right - not the ideal sort of Xmas present - and you can't exchange it for something you really want Frowner
Good luck on the recovery process

Good Morning Susan,
I had the same operation almost three years ago, the thing which haunted me was the warning that a "re-do" was always likely. In my case it wasn't but reading your comments fills me with admiration for your spirit,Tony is right your spirit will be a major asset in your recovery, keep it up.
For more than ten years I drove through Cork on my way to Kinsale every second month. My business there took about two hours but I loved the place and the people so much that it usually took two or three days.
The only time I stayed in Cork was to see the Tall Ships but I got the date wrong and the ships had sailed away the week before......this must disqualify me from telling Irish jokes!!
Most of us on this web site are cancer patients so we understand the feelings of fellow patients if you have questions go right ahead and ask someone will have an answer for you.It might be a good idea not to ask me about the date of the tall ships!
Please keep us posted you are like a breath of fresh air.
Keep Smiling Razzer
John

Hi Susan, glad you are finding this site helpful. I was born in Armagh but have lived in the UK most of my life. I did spend 12 months working in Cork and Kerry some years ago. I lived in a rented place on Cove. The company I worked for had offices in the centre of cork so know the city pretty well. Take care and all the best for Christmas and the New Year.
