Shirl,
I must have been a bit stupid.
Never asked any questions, the stage etc.

All I took in was larynx, voice box, cancer and " you will need surgery within the next few weeks, we will take the lumps od your larynx and you will also need surgery for your hiatus hernia, you will start speech therapy next week "
I asked when exactly and the consultant answered " a s a p depends which hospital either here or heartlands that I can get you into, you are now on the list"

The consultant must have thought "she has took this well"

Hi Margaret,
I don't know about you but I was the same when I got the results of the MRI scan. The doctor said you have a thickening on your tongue and are referring you to an ENT surgeon...and I just politely said ok thanks....walked out and then thought of a million questions that i should have asked!!!
Hope you are ok Margaret and stay strong!

Best Wishes,

David.

hi margret
i too never asked what stage my cancer was at,and i felt like you did thinking they must have thought i had taken it very well.i think the reason we don't ask that question is because you are so shocked at being diagnosed and are trying to come to terms with it,it's only when you get home you think i should have asked this and that question.if you have not done so yet you will meet with the whole team when they decide on your treatment.i think the only question that was important to me at the time was is this the primary?i had a bone scan a c.t scan and an mri scan plus my ent surgeon had a closer look at the base of my tongue while i was put under and she was able to tell me a lot about that too.i found that writing things down i needed to ask and also taking hubby with me so he could relay their answers to me helped greatly.i hope you are coping well.take care love shirl xxx
