Hi, It's months since I have visited the site, so hello to old friends and Hi to new. I'm afraid I had a hard time recently with problems after a second operation (the wound site opened on my face and would not heal) and with having to change dressings 6 or 7 times a day and depression getting a good hold because of the waiting time for remidial surgery I have not been the best of company! The wound opened so far it looked like I had another mouth on the side of my face (showing bone graft and metal brace, along with a permanent leak of saliva)I just did not want to admit it was happening and got myself in a real old tizzy!
The good news is I have just spent another 7 weeks in hospital and after an initial scare where it opened again, I now seem to be OK and the wound is staying closed. My face is an awful mess though and much to my disgust have been told not to eat anything with a texture thicker or harder than a yoghurt (again)so still on the peg feed. It's great to be able to drink liquid again though and do admit to sucking to death a Pringle or two!
Next on the list is RT which obviously had to be postponed (since January) better late than never though.
The next few weeks I'm going to dedicate to getting out and about again (trying to ignore the lookers and hand behind mouth comments from the ignorant but now I've got this far I'm refuse to go out like I should have a bag over my head because of the way I look and talk!
Well here I am again as said and I look forward to chatting and sharing on the site again.
Take care to all. SusieR x

Susie
You have had a tough time.
Excellent news that you're going to be getting out & about, I'm sure that will accelerate your recovery.

Thanks 200,
Just to contridict myself though about getting out and about, have just spent last week in the 'A'end of nowhere Cool Very Very quiet, no cars, people, unless you wanted to go into the village a couple or so miles away, no phone landline or mobile or internet access!! It was actually wonderfull. The peace and beauty of the country was really restfull and I now feel full of energy and really well. Oh and I was not visititing a retreat or health farm, just a friends mobile home which was used when she was building and now at the edge of a field far away from anyone or anything. Wish I could have taken you all with me, the boost I have received from staying there is fantastic! SusieR

Hi All,
Have been catching up on all the posts. Thanks for the kind words from all. Had yet another scare ref the wound site this week.I have developed a lump which is weeping on the scar site. I was lucky enough to be able to see my consultant on that day. My first RT appointment has been made for this Friday. I am quite honestly crapping myself after reading the problems you have all faced during treatment. In saying that at least I am prepared and have read all the advice given on getting through the treatment. Thanks folks, no doubt I will be trying out a lot of the remidies!.
