Hi Jola
Welcome to the site, nice to know you survived. My husband has throat & tongue cancer, there are lots of people here who know what you're going through, any problems just ask, someone will know something. Good luck Jennie |

Thanks Jenny. It's good to know that somebody out there reads your mail. If possible, please let me know sth about your husband's problems. I'm especially interested in teeth problems, also dentures and the likes.
Regards, Jola |

hi Jola
Paul has really big teeth problems, but mainly caused by radiotherapy [ don't know if you have had that?}the radiation has damaged his gums and there are a lot of holes in his teeth, but they can't do anything because apparently if you take the teeth out it leaves you with a hole in your gum that won't heal, but i know other people on the site know more than i do about this, and everyone's experiences are slightly different Take care Jennie |

Hi Jola
I am here to help where I can. Am staying in the background more than usual as recuperating from pneumonia (not nice!). Best wishes Vinod Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice. Thanks to all who have answered my plea. Sorry, if the language is not alwayas proper but English is my second language and getting a bit rusty. Well, been through it all - in my case means operation plus radioterapy. Up to that point it was more or less ok. However later I suffered from fistula in my face and I do not seem to be able to get over it. During an attempt at closing it, the surgon cut my facial nerve and one side of my face is permanently altered, which of course results in speech impediment.
I am due for yet another operation (fifth, I suppose) in April and would really appreciate some sort of advice on what could be done about my teeth. Not many are left, so sth will have to be done about it but I cannot open my mouth wide enough to have denture fitted. I do hope to hear from you again, Jola |

Hello Cathy,
Yes, thanks I'm more or LESS alright. But my faithful golden makes sure I get my daily lot of exercise - you see, I live on my own. Any advice on what could possibly be done about my teeth would be great. We do have good doctors here, however it's better to know what can be rexpected of them. Keep well, Jola |

Jola, Hello my dear I am so sorry to hear about all your misfortunes. I too am wondering about teeth. They told me in the begining of all this that I would be fitted with DENTAL IMPLANTS. This is a new technique where the teeth are put in one at a time. This is not the same as DENTURES. However I am like you, I cannot open my mouth wide enough for any bottom teeth. There is just no way. My DOCTOR told me when I questioned him about this that it would be down while I was out. I also have to wait 2 years after the surgery before anything will be done. I HIGHLY suggest you talk to your Doctor about your situation. Pressure him on all the how's, why's and what for's. After all this is YOUR body...Saty with us and keep us up to date. Always Vicki Lynn

Thanks Vicky. Of course I will talk to my doctor about ANY possible treatment to my teeth.I am afraid, thogh, noone will bother with implants. Well, we'll see. I have an appointment for the 27th. Keep well, Jola

Hi Jola, I would go with the Dentures if you can. They have to use the small ones on me since I can't open my mouth very wide. I have a small mouth anyways. Keep in touch Please.
