Hi Lynne

wow thats a lot you have had to go through on your own.I think after so much major surgery you really musn't expect too much.7 months is no time in Oral Cancer land. The treatment is barbaric and the recovery long and littered with pitfalls along the way.Have you tried getting in touch with Macmillan Support? They have groups and support workers and social support .It is essential for you to have someone who can help with company and doing all the exercises and speech training i know you need to do .This is a great site for support but i think you maybe need something a bit more tangible.so ....welcome

Love liz

Hi Lynne,
I haven't been diagnosed yet but have to have a tongue biopsy soon.It sounds like you have been through an awful lot.
All I can say is I've had loads of great support and advice from everyone on here and it's made me feel a lot better and stronger. The Macmillan nurses also sound like a good avenue to try as well.
Good luck with your recovery and hope you are feeling better soon.
Best Wishes,
David.

There is a lot more to macmillan cancer uk than just their nurses. The nurses usually come along if your diagnosis is terminal, but the macmillan cancer network support system deals with everything from help with travelling expenses benefits, holidays, insurance, group support, drop in centres, bereavemnet and research.I belong to the macmillan research panel, and take part in surveys about treatment, after care, and emotional support. They are a great organisation.

Hi Lynne, Liz is right, MacMillan are amazing. My wife and I felt totally isolated and numb until I was given a MacMillan nurse. She's now one of my most trusted friends. Welcome to the forum. Hagg.
