Hi All Thanks,
I have a funny side effect from mMorphinde based Meds and that is Respitory Arrest I have had uptodate 4 serious and 2 not so, The first waxs after a car accident when they game me some after an Op on my Knee & during the regular Obs. found me Comatose and Blue (What A Drama) second time was after I was given it for Renal Cholic(Another rama) rushed off to ICU and the family informed that I had had a Stroke, only to wake up and see everyone there waiting for me to pass over(so they could check my Will, Ha HA)anyway they then decided that I was allergic to Morphine based drugs so That was NONO.
Next I am off to the RAH for my anaesthetist test and She says"They gave yoiu TOO much" an then the big OP (Radical Neck Di)and Lo and Behold what happens in Recovery I have not 1 but 2 resporatory arrests, boy am I lucky anyway now it is time for a Medic Alert Bracelet which will make a fashion statement on one that doesn't have one/
Any way I thought I would pas along this bit of Trivia to keep the Saga going/

Hi everyone,
Why not E45? Well my face erupted in open sores (think shaving rash times fifty) after about 8 or 10 radiotherapy sessions and the E45 cream just stung like hell when it was applied. Not the least, the action of rubbing the cream in tended to remove the scabs leaving open wounds! Also, the radiotherapists suggested that I should avoid it (because it interferes with the treatment, apparently.) As Chell said "Gel bases are more cooling and soothing."

Once the RT were done and dusted and the open sores were a thing of the past, I used E45 on my scar and where the RT affected. (Still do, just to keep the scar from hardening up. But not during the pendency of RT)

Now I'm still ploughing on with a Positive Mental Attitude.

Mmmwah!

I would love to post a photo of my son when he had his accident with the glass and a photo of his scars now after using the bio oil so you can all see the amazing effects but it might be deemed inappropriate.

Hi Trev,
Thought I would let you know that while Darrel was going through treatment, we found straight after the r/t I would put cold aloe vera gel all over his neck/chest/side of face, I kept it in the fridge all the time. After a few hours we would then spread alot of very good vitamin E cream over the same area. This kept his skin in very good condition as well, both of them relieved the burning and dry feeling he would have. Whenever his face got tight I would just put more cream on him. I must admit now people don't even notice his scar on his neck, it did that alot of good as well.
You have had a rough time with the morphine, I hope they find something for you that works as well but doesn't cause those problems, how difficult for you and your family.
Good luck with it all, and I hope I can answer some of your questions. I know if I can't there are wonderful people here who can.

I agree with Tracey Lee in that aloe vera gel is good. But the concentration of gel should be 97% pure.

Who you tryin to kid, trying to make us think you are smooth macho just doesnt work with this pic, we've all seen you with your white curly hair,we like the cuddly version better. You seem to be doing really well with your treatments so dont worry tomorrow, chemo is a walk in tghe park compared with the r/t.

Be a good boy and take the meds

They are fitting me with a PEG on Monday the 27th of August 2007, but have to have #15RT before then Chemo the next morning (Struth).
Thanks for the advice on the cream we have been lucky so far with the Sorbeline that the RAH supply and we were given a large pot with an aloe vera plant in it so Iam covered both ways. I havent been much on line lately as by the time we get home from treatment I am Stuffed, Stay strong

Hello everyone
Just jumping on the band wagon for a chat.
Angie ~ don't go being cruel to poor ole Trev, he's in serious denial and truly believes he looks like the bloke in the pic!!!! (maybe it's the drugs).
I think Trevor's skin is in very good condition (hasn't always been the case, believe me in spite of some serious nagging by his delightful wife!). The day he was measured up for his mask, we were given a couple of tubes of pure sorbolene (I wonder if you have that over there??) and the nurse asked us to start using it right away, twice daily. They wanted to test any benefits of creaming up the skin pre r/t. I have put it on quite thickly and while I don't know what state someone's skin would be in at this point in treatment, TT's is still moist and although it feels quite warm, isn't sore. Perhaps we've been lucky.
Hope you are all well.
Deborah
PS Tracey ~ Trevor's brother-in-law had r/t last year (they live at Sanctuary Cove) and Pam, T's sister, said that being January in Q'ld Frank found the aloe vera much more soothing than the creams. Where in Q'ld are you?
Toodles
Deborah
