Hi all, I am a 28 nearly 29yr old male, called Ken.

I have just been reading an article in a newspaper about mouth cancer and the symptoms etc. I became quite worried about them.

Background info:
I am scared of dentists and have not had a check up for ages and have one cracked tooth, but am not in any pain.

About 3 months ago I noticed the gum around the back lower teeth getting rather hard. Thought nothing of it. Then about a week ago on the inside of the lower gum a lump appeared below the front middle teeth. The lump is still there.

I am not registered with a dentist due to my fear of them. I have arranged an appointment with the doctor tomorrow to have a check but am really worried.

Am I worrying over anything stupid, could it just be a ulcer etc.

Thanks

Ken.

Good Evening Ken, There are many reasons for lumps appearing in the mouth, Most of them are easily dealt with but non of us can afford to take the risk and ignore them so you have done the smart thing in seeing the doctor. Now don't spend the rest of the night getting worked up about what it might be.Please let us know how you get on tomorrow.

Hello Ken

If your doctor is unsure about the lump, he could refer you to the local hospital's maxillofacial unit for an opinion since you don't have a dentist. Don't get worried if that happens as there are so many causes for a lump especially since you have not been seeing a dentist e.g gum infection, etc.

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes
