Jaw Problem?
 Login/Join
Posted
2 years ago I had a neck dissection, part of tongue removed together with lymph nodes, followed by 6 weeks of r/t. Things have been Ok small problems that you would expect, however over the last week or so I seem to have a problem with my jaw.

It's not the side on which I had the op or r/t but the other side. It really hurts when I eat/munch on my food. It seems to click a little and sometimes it feels and if its going to lock.

Has anyone else experienced such a problem or have any advice for me.

Regards

Sue

Hi Sue

Have you seen a dentist to rule out TMJ?

Hi Julia

Thanks for responding really quickly and sorry but can you let me know what TMJ stands for.

I guess the last letter stands for Jaw but what are the other two.

Hi Sue

Sorry about that. TMJ is short for Temporomandibular Joint Disorder and it involves the joint where your bottom jaw meets the top.

It could even be something as simple as muscle strain if you've been chewing exclusively on the "good" side.

Hi Julia,

Thanks for that I have an appointment with the Dentist in March but I think I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see if I can get in earlier.

Will let you know how I get on.

Once again thank you

Sue
