Hello my name is micheal, this is the first time i have done this sort of thing and i am a bit weary not of the site but of myself. Let me start with me, and maybe then as time goes on i can release the tension and so on that i feel.

I was officail diagnosed early last year with cancer to the parotid gland, i have had two operations before on the gland but these where benign tumors. (sorry for spelling not my best point) i was given a coarses of chemo and radiothearpy for the second time but, alas chemo never worked and radio stopped it for a while. Since i was diagnosed i have just thought sod it lets get on with things and i have never really asked the doctors any questions. i hope that this is the type of forum where i can get away with releaseing the feelings i have and that you will not get to annoyed at me.

Welcome Michael,

On this forum we are allowed to vent anger and frustration within reason. No one will laugh at you or suggest that you are being defeatist but you will get answers if you ask and opinions possibly whether you want them or not. Feel free to read the host of stories already on these boards and you will soon get a flavour of our ethos. There is probably someone here who will have some experience worth sharing with you ask and see. Alan

Dear Micheal,
Go ahead and vent every bit of your anger and get out all the anger and the unhappiness. You have joined a very select band and whatever you do - the group will always be there to take and accept what ever you throw at them. As Michelle put it this is just the place where you are not judged but have so many shoulders to lean upon.
Keep us posted on your progress Micheal. It would be great to hear from you.

Alright Micheal, I never asked for any technical info after I was diagnosed. Just got down to kicking it's ass. Still dont know what RT I had or what all the procedures were called, only know it was a Squeamous Cell Carcinoma. Some people need to know everything and some dont. I just needed to know it was there so I could kick it's head in (so to speak). Good luck and dont be afraid to rant, sometimes it's got to be done. Everyone here has an idea of how you feel. Hagg.

12 years and still kicking it.

Hi again Micheal,
Kids are a great distraction when we're all caught up in ourselves aren't they?!
It'll be good to read your story.
Take care,
Michelle
