I have just been told I need to have radiotherapy and I am worried. I am a singer and worried I will lose my voice. I have had 2 surgeries since June and they have removed 10 tumours. Any advice on side effects welcome.

Hello Tracey

Welcome. You need to focus on getting better first. If all goes really well your voice will be fine (okay, perhaps not as before but who knows!).

There are good links about radiotherapy treatment and complications on the RDOC website. You will also find Pauline's story helpful in knowing what to expect. To follow past discussions about radiotherapy, do a search for the key word "radiotherapy" using the FIND button (above left). Hope all goes well and yopu will sing for us Smiler .

I am sure the others will join in with advice.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

Hi Tracey
I'm glad you eventaully took the step to join in. It will help you to know that what you go through is all par for the course. You may suffer less or more, no one can say, but we all have an idea of what is feels like to be scared and feel numbed by the rapidity of events that change your life.

If it is any comfort even with problems I still am doing the same work as before and at the same pace albeit with about an 8 months break during and after treatment.

You can do this even though you don't want to.
I wish you much luck.
