My husband has just had laser surgery for base of the tong cancer, the second in 18 months. It was a shock when the first
tumour was diagnosed because he had just had the five year all clear from throat cancer. He is a fighter but this last bout
in Hospital has nocked him about physically and mentally. He was in hospital for a month because of problems with the peg
feeds and a blood infection from the central line. They took biopsies after the surgery and two are suspect, I don't think
he can go though this again but what are the alternates. Has anyone out there had to make the same decision?

This is my story. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 base of tongue cancer in 2003. The treatment was horrific. He had
chemo and radiation for a year. Also a feeding tube. We had specialists tell us he wasn't going to make it. He coded in the
hospital one night and they told me not to expect him to live. It got so bad I took him to faith healers. He called me his
'Nurse Angel.' Miraculously he survived and went into remission. On our wedding anniversary he insisted that we repeat our
vows and we did. We got a real minister and invited friends and family and had an emotional beautiful 'wedding' on the river.
Three months later I caught him sneaking off to a motel with someone he worked with. And then he left me for her. I wish the
cancer would have got him.
