Tongue cancer reoccurence

Hi my name is Shannon and my Dad was diagnosed with tongue cancer last Nov. He has under went chemo and radiation. Then in March of this yr they removed half of his tongue. Since the the line where they cut still showed cancer cells they put him on a protocol. He has been taking the chemo pill now since I think May. But he has just been re diagnosed with the cancer and they said they are gonna remove his voice box and the rest of his tongue. That gives him a 30% chance of survival. So I guess I am wondering if there are any survivors who could share there stories and offer my family some hope. Thanks for your time and may god bless each and everyone of you.

Hi Shannon

I am so sorry for you and your dad; it's bad enough that you've already been through it once. I hope you find what you need here. If you need to yell (who could blame you?), go ahead. Lurkers are welcome, too.

My won situation is different from your dad's, but it probably won't be long before someone who can help will be here.

Hi Shannon,

Sorry to hear about your father, he must be so glad and proud to have you care for him.

I wish your dad all the very best and keep hoping for the best.

Take care

Shannon,

Sorry you have to join the site. I have had 1/3 of my tongue removed dec 4th 2008. I have not had a recurrance in the tongue but recently nov 12th I had spread to lungs. I was offered to go to texas to MD anderson in Houston. I am not sure what part of Texas you are in but am curious if that is where your dad receives care or not. I was told that was the best in the US.

Best of Luck to you and your dad.

Love

Pam
