Hi Lorraine
Well it's reassuring to know that it isn't just me! Mind you, unlike you I am a very (VERY) long way from tiny to begin with (I wasn't even born tiny!) and unlike you I don't find myself losing weight ('if I'm not careful' ~ you lucky, lucky girl)so the last thing I need is to be piling it on. I'm not buying things for Trevor, I'm leaving it to him because he knows what he feels like and how it will work for him. I made a delicious meal last night but it just didnt' work out for Tricky Trev so there was I getting stuck into it while he gulped and strained and drank and gulped some more to get it down the hatch! Frustrating for everyone and all I could do was tell him how much he would've enjoyed it a couple of months ago! No point in us both being miserable ~ is there?? Love Deborah |

PS It's a bit odd to read a post and find your own husband sending a message to you/me, and others when he is sitting at the same desk as me, not 6 feet away. Whatever has become of us?????

Hi Trev, Deborah,Cookie et al
That tip about drinking soda water was great. I went out for a meal with some friends last night and found that the soda water (apart from nearly blowing my head off) was excellent for keeping the mucus at bay. It meant that I could talk almost normally. I managed soup and tirimisu, but struggled a bit with chicken in wine sauce, even when they had liquidised it. Next time I'm going to try eating it without liquidising it, but last night that was just for speed. Must go now, having a very late breakfast and my porridge is ready. Do you have porridge in Australia. Apologies for not coming back, but quite often I can't load this site. Have a Happy Christmas everybody Chris |

Hi! Chris,
Great to hear from you, yes we do have Porridge(Uncle Tobies is the brand name) I like to prepare mine the night before as it is less gluggy then in the morning, I guess gluggy is a bad word maybe I meen "of a more runnier consistancy", anyway how have things been with your eating ? I have progressed quite a bit further and have been trying soft jubes, chocolate, salami, pickled onions,ETC. Deb and I were invited to a friends place for pre=xmas drinks and the host had aquired a heap of fresh oysters for Moi! and he also is very liberal with his Brandy so the day went very well with a dozen very fresh oysters and a half a dozen glasses of Brandy, it was there that I tried the salami wrapped around a gherkin(yummo). Are you having Xmas at home? we are having Xmas Brekky then it will be nap time I think?, this is something that I find I am doing a bit of again lately that is having an afternoon sleep for an hour or more(most frustrating). Anyway I'll get this of and wish you a Very Merry Xmas and an even Happier & Healthy New Year. Love TREV A lovely thing about Christmas is that it's compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together. Garrison Keillor |

Hi! Cookey,
Where is your stamina, Oysters go down easy, and after a few brandies who knows what is going down, it's called Experimenting and I have to try everything just to make sure I can lead a normal life(Me Normal??????)anyway spicy foods are not fairing well so have to deaden the spice with something and Soda Water does become a little boring. Anyway I believe some preXmas goodies are calling me so must away. Love you TREV(no not me silly) |

Hi Trev & Cookey et al
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas. I've just got back from staying at my brother's and then going to a rock an roll break on the Isle of Wight. I found I could eat small portions of most things, provided there was sauce on it and most puddings if they had custard. However, we went to one pub where the only options were soup or vegetable korma. I chose vegetable korma and found that the spices made my mouth sting, so that was a bad decision. I also found drinking champagne was too acidic, but I can taste red wine and have enjoyed a half of bitter. I am really limiting the alcohol because of the link with alcohol and cancer of the tonsil. I hate pickled onions at the best of times, so won't be trying those, but I have managed to start eating complete bananas. I have a problem with trismus, which means I can only just open my mouth enough to get the banana in my mouth and then it makes the left hand side of my jaw ache. Are either of you having any problems with trismus? My consultant has refused to refer me for a Therabite and just chucked a handful of lolly sticks at me. I'm going to see if there's a way of getting one without a referral. By the way, I find that mashed potato sticks to the roof of my mouth, but that tuna and mayo in a baked potato went down quite well and the potato was easier to eat. Red cabbage and spinach (probably frozen) were easy to eat and I have managed to eat some carrots. Mince in shepherds pie rolls around my mouth like little stones without going anywhere. Butter beans, peas and green beans seem to cause problems with the skins, but I can eat the insides. How about you? Bye for now and Happy New Year. Chris |

Hi! Chris
Yes we did have a lovely Xmas and even though I am working for the New Years Eve I have decided to close Blockbuster at 9pm(2 hours early)and head of home to spend the night with Deb as we don't have any plans for a wingding, I trust you are going to enjoy yourself and kick up your heals(sad about the drinks though). Wow Stout and lemonade was a refreshing drink but as you were saying the link with alcoholand throat cancer tends to reduce you desire for a drink, I did find a piece of Salami wrapped around a gherkin easy to digest and quite tasty, like you I have found that some spices give me a burning sensation in my mouth. Steak cooked in a George Forman Grill(the grill is angled so all the fats and juices run into a trough)was very nice and although I had to chew for quite a while and drink the steak went down easily and deliciously (though my taste buds are not very good). Anything cooked in fats or oils seem to stick to the roof of my mouth, so I have to drink Soda Water to rinse it off. Well this room is starting to heat up so Iam out of here, Have a great New Year and keep on posting Love TREV Albert Schweitzer: Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Hi Chris
for avice on eating bananas you need to speak to our resident expert Chelle. The best advice i can give you is dont try to put them in sideways lol. You can buy a Therabyte if you dont want to wait for your referral,in the mean time keep up with the stretching exersises. I am enjoying reading your gastronomic journey so keep up the trial and error and soon like Trev you will be shoving everything down your throat love liz Love liz Never take your eye off the ball it may just smack you in the mouth |

Hi All and Happy New Year
Haven't been reading up on the site for the last week and have just read through Trevor's above. Just in case someone is feeling they aren't doing so well, when he is doing famously ~ I need to have some input. The steak mentioned above was not a slab of steak or anything like it, but rather a small picece cut from mine. It's great that he is trying so many things but just wanted to make it clear that he isn't eating full servings of most things. That's the reason the weight is dropping from his frame at a great rate of knots! Good luck and keep up the progress, Chris and Liz your banana advice seems very sound (although I know a few people I'd like to serve it to horizontally!!) Love to all Deborah |

Dear All
I am so lucky that my taste buds all seem in working order. I must try eating steak soon. I also have problems with eating green leaf vegetables, but can eat cauliflower and carrots O.K. Last night I ate chicken in mustard sauce with jacket potato and roasted peppers. It was all fine - just too much of it. Liz - I am doing stretching exercises, but probably not enough. Do you have any gastronomic recommendations? Sorry to hear that you're still losing weight Trev. Have you tried adding Calogen to some of your meals to add calories. I was also given a recipe book for use with Scandishakes (you can get them on prescription in the U.K.) I found that the recipe for Scandishake Horlicks was particularly useful if you were low on calories. It produces over 600 calories in one drink. Scandishake jelly is O.K. also, but I just find at the moment when it's cold that I want hot desserts. I also take 2 x Ensure Plus supplements after my porridge in the morning. At present, I am mixing one pear in with the porridge, which is helping with the amount of fruit and veg a day and which then leaves me free to have a banana with my lunch. Today I have gained one pound, which is good because I lost two pounds a couple of days ago and am trying to put it back on. I also eat small amounts and it takes me absolutely ages, but I am determined not to fade away. All the best to everybody. Chris |

Dear all,
This is strictly in fun and not meant to demean or make fun of anyone ( Paul - please note!!). Here its seven years down the line and I still cannot manage one bowl of cornflakes or a slice of cupcake!!! We all have our "I wish" desires but when we know its not possible we just have to accept it as everyone (you included Paul)has done so. Love to all, Ananth Live on your beliefs and strength- and you will become immortal. |

Hats off to you all. You're all doing/have done it tough. Keep up the great work and determined attitudes.
Love Deborah |
