Good Evening Charlie 88, It sound as though your friend certainly needs some help.If he only thinks he has mouth cancer then he should see a dentist/doctor without further delay. If he has been diagnosed then you should contact the oncology clinic and speak to the McMillan nurse. You will find that she will be able to point you towards the people who can help.
Mouth cancer can affect people of all ages but is unusual in someone so young.Where are your friend's parents? they are the ones who should be giving him a great deal of help and support at this time.

Good Morning Charles,
Your friend needs professional advice which I am not able to offer,I am neither a dentist nor a doctor,I am just an old timer who has been through the mill a time or two with mouth cancer. The doctors at the oncology clinic ,or the McMillan nurse or a G.P.are good starting points. If your friend can not be encouraged to see these people himself then someone should make this move on his behalf. But ,Charles, please be carefull his parents have a legal responsibility for his welfare. Before you make any unilateral move obtain the parent approval or have a word with the Citizen's Advice Bureau or the social services people about your legal position.Don't be put off by this legal consideration it costs nothing but it would be dreadfull to think that you would face problems because of your kind hearted attitude to your friend. The worst thing to do is to do nothing. No one will pretend that mouth cancer is a nice experience,it isn't, but it can be cured and the sooner the problem is dealt with the easier will be the treatment. I'm sorry I can't be more helpfull, I wish I could do more. Please keep us posted. Someone else on the website may be better equiped to offer help and advice,be assured that everyone on the site is commited to helping anyone involved with mouth cancer, whether it be a patient, a relative or a caring friend like yourself.
keep smiling Razzer
John
