Kenny, great news. I know what you mean about being in shock and and a little disbelief. It's kind of hard to grasp that there are no more treatments to go through and, barring reoccurance, you can breathe easy. Continued good news to you; David

Hi David R Glad to hear of your recovery. I was diagnosed in August 2005 with SCC of left tonsil - had to have some major surgery then 6 weeks of RT. I remember that awful taste in the mouth!, luckily my taste returned within about 4 weeks but the saliva function has never fully recoved especially on the LH side. 3 years later and I'm doing just fine I found getting back to normal eating quite difficult but you know you do adapt. You just have to keep trying diffeent things some work some don't, peanut butter you think would be ok - soft and moist - NO NO NO it sticks like hell!! Lots of soup - break bread into it and it's OK- try to eat dry bread - NO No NO! Yohurt, porridge and pot puddings are fine. When I'm eating my main meal at home I just put the whole lot in the blender and eat the resulting mush!! When eating out I usually find something on the menu I can manage although only a small amount cos it takes so long to eat. Fish is easier than meat but hard cheeses are really out now and my favorite chocolate! Sorry I've rambled on for so long - anyway good luck to you and well done!! Best regards Rosie

Thanks, Rosie. Unfortunately, my taste is still pretty messed up after 6 1/2 mos. Meat, poultry and fish all have a nasty metallic taste and even things like mashed potatoes and pasta which seem like I'd be able to eat just taste terrible. But, I'm sure it will come, in time. Just takes longer for some of us. I promised my family that I'd be grilling some rib eye steaks by the end of summer and here we are with the 1st rain of autumn already so I didn't quite make that deadline. Oh, well, in time. Hello David R. I just read your post of Oct. 4th o8, and how you are doing so well with your Cancer. I too had Throat Cancer. My last Radiation was in November 08. The reason I am writing is because I am so scared to go for my ct. scan pet and mri. although the ENT Dr. said all looks ok. What kind of Cancer did you have, and what stage was it. I was a 3, and it was on the vocal cord and went to the side of my tonsil. It is good to hear that you are clear, It gives me much home and relief. Annette
