Hi wingman, I know it's a daunting time for you but as you say, it's treatable and beatable. I had the cancer in my sinus so I dont know what problems you might have tongue wise, but I didn't find the RT too bad. Your biggest weapon is a good positive attitude and your faith is bound to help, hang in there . All the best. Hagg.

Hi Wingman.
Yes please keep us updated. It is all so daunting but as others have said once everything starts you just go with the flow of it. Everyone reacts differently to treatment, but the one thing that is the same with everyone is that you do get through it and you do come out the other side. keep strong & keep positive love mum xxxx |

Hello Chuck,
Feeling scared is natural, but remember that we who believe in Faith; cannot die we simply move into another dimension. Christ has conquered death for us, therefore death can hold no fear and in eternity there can be no concept of time. We struggle with time in this existence and we worry for nought, death of this mortal insignificant body which I currently possess is inevitable but like the death of the caterpillar, or the annual flower we rise again through metamorphosis or seed into a new being quite distinct from our past but as real and even more vibrant than before. Do not fear for yourself Chuck rather be concerned for those you must leave through no choice of your own and endeavour to mitigate your wife's pain by reminding her now that any parting shall be temporary and that your love is indestructible and cannot be defeated even by the death and decay of our feeble bodies. Ensure that your wife is assured of your love and that that love will subsist in spirit deep in her heart until you are reunited in a place where selfishness and envy no longer prevail and we can live in peace with our neighbour for evermore. Hey Wingman,
Let me give you something to look forward to.... we're practically neighbors.. You in orlando and me in Tampa.. if you can pretend to like the Tampa Bay buccaneers for an afternoon, I have a pair of season tickets that we could enjoy together one game this season. They belong to my son and I, but he's currently in Afghanistan serving, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind me and "another comrad in arms" with a different kind of fight enjoying a good ball game. Hang in there..... God and one man is a majority!! Bob (Pembo) |

UPDATE TO ALL
Once again, thainks for all of your prayers, kind thoughts and general support. I met with the Doctors at the Moffitt Cancer Center Monday and things are progressing - - They are planning on removing the mass on the 19th of this month. Even though there is no sign of Lymphatic involvement, they have elected to resection the right side of my neck and to remove the lymph glands there as a precaution. The Dr. says, " ah, you don't need em and you won't miss em so lets be safe OK?" Thanks again for your continued support and I'll let ya know what the progress is. Chuck |

Hey Wingman
I also had a modified neck dissection, and nobody told me this: if you have an infection (cold, tooth problem, et c) in your neck and head, the side where the lymph nodes have been removed will have a tendency to puff a bit because the lymph that is produced has no where to go, so it just stays in place until your body absorbs it. Also, since the docs probably used staples in your neck to close off the nodes, expect strange looks from your dentist the next time you have dental x-rays. Mine had NO idea what the little bars in my neck were . Julia |

SURGERY SCHEDULED
Just got word from Moffitt Cancer Center that they have an opening on Tuesday morning at 7:30 - - Please keep both my wife and I in your prayers - - I've got the easy part. I get to sleep, but she has to put up with my recovery and I know she will need all the prayer she can get. Chuck |
