Hi,
My name is Chrys, my mom was diagnosed 5-31-06 with cervical cancer that had spread from the cervix. She had a radical hysterectomy 6-23-06. We got an all clear when the biopsies came back, she didn't need chemo / radiation. I am 1 of 5 children, we were all so happy about the outcome.......THEN......8-8-06 we received another diagnosis of cancer "SCC". Her surgery is scheduled for 9-8-06 with 10 days in the hospital, a trechae for breathing,(for 1 week), a feeding tube (for roughly 4 months. Mom is 68 years old I'm worried about how well she'll come thru the surgery and she just had major surgery in June. The doctors say 4 weeks after surgery she'll start radiation treatment 5 days a week for 6 weeks. I am the middle child of 5, live next door to my mom and have taken her to the dr. / hospital, made all of her appointments, did whatever was necessary for her well being. She calls me her BULLDOZIER because I ask all the questions and make most of the decisions for her. I got her signed up for medicad to help with her dr. bills and medicine. When she gets out of the hospital this time she's coming home with me and my grandmother is comming to the house to help care for her during the day when I work. My husband has been a God send thru all of this, he has helped me get things in order and ready, he's been very understanding about me not being home much (at mom's alot, sometimes just talking to her because she feels alienated from everyone right now.)BUT now I'm really feeling the pressure, guess I just need some encouragement. The closer the surgery date gets the more nervous I get. Is this the right treatment for her???????????

VERY WORRIED

Hello Chrys

Your mum is lucky to have a caring daughter like you, and you a husband who understands. We (and our shoulders to lean on) are always here to help you and listen to your woes as you accompany your mum through this roller-coaster experience. You will do fine. Take care.

Best wishes
