I have good news to report. The doctor was very pleased with my progress and the healing of my chin area. The pathology report came back negative saying there is no evidence of cancer.
We have to continue to pack the chin and next week I go back again to have my stitches removed.
So its great news for me and hope it continues so that I dont have to have a new jaw in the future.
Thanks everyone for listening and caring about my situation. I will update you all as and when it is necessary. Take care everyone and God Bless.

Cheerio,
Bob

Hey Paul,
Thanks for replying to my email yesterday. It was good news and I am pleased with the pathology report.
I have had 2 partial glossectomies over the years and fortunately I still have about 75% of my tongue remaining. I have not heard of tongues turning black from radiation and/or smelling bad from it either. Why dont you tell me your story or you ca write to me at www.bobnrosy@aol.com anytime and would be glad to help you and me with our endeavours with tongue cancer.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Take care,
Bob

Keep the faith Bob> I am here in Thailand trying to stay alive with the same Probs you have if not more. I'm not sure1 I completely lost my Tongue and ability to eat food 2 1/2 yrs ago. Am living off of Iso-Cal food replacement since then by Tube feeding. Am currently undergoing Maxiofacial Treatment to repair my dissolving Jaw bone on the Left side.Still have a Tumor in my left Lymph Gland the size of my Thumb.Am on Disability, so came came to Thailand 1 1/2 yrs ago to get Top Rated treatment for Cheap cost. So far I'm still kicking, and the Dopctors are able to help with my Daily pain and suffering. I could not afford it the U.S.. The Doctors were not willing to treat me back in Texas properly due to lack of Funds. Not sure how long I will be around, but at least the Doctors are doing there best to make me feel like I still have some time on this planet. One thing I know for sure that helps you to fight Cancer is being in an environment where you are Stress Free and happy. It really works. And if you don't mind my saying having faith in the Higher Power.

Stay well,
A fellow Cancered Human

Hi Bob,
I have been reading your story and wish you all the very best with your future. I am a wife of a tongue and throat cancer patient and this site has been wonderful for me as well. It seems that you take 2 steps forward and then 4 steps back, but, I pray it gets a little easier for you and your wife in the future.
All the best, Tracey

Hello everyone
I am happy to report that my stitches were removed successfully on Wednesday and the doctors are pleased with the progress with my chin which is granulating well. I have to return to the doctor again next week for another evaluation.
I have a question though on a different subject.
I am trying to wean myself off of pain meds (Vicodin) and it is a very difficult thing to accomplish. I have also developed RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome) which I experience at night. I am told its an iron deficiency and I should increase my intake with vitamins. Is this true or are there any other ways to alleviate this problem? I hate to take more medication but if I have to I will. I also heard to drink Tonic Water as it has Quinine in it!
Does anyone have any ideas I would appreciate it?
Pleaase let me know

Take care
Bob

Hi Bob,
I don't know if this will help, but I have found with restless leg syndrome I take Magnisium tablets every day and it really does help me so much. If I don't take them I find my legs go bad again. I also take calcium at the same time, if you go to a health food shop and ask for a good brand of strong magnisium it just might help. As you know though everyone is different but please try it for awhile, i couldn't live without the tablets now.
I hope your chin continues to heal well for you and we found coming off pain killers we did that slowly, by cutting the tablet in half then only having it every couple of days, this seem to help. Although Darrel does still take pain killers which you can buy over the counter not prescribed ones which help a little.
Good luck,
Tracey
PS I don't know why magnisium helps, but someone told me about it and it does!!

Hello Tracie Lee in Ausralia,
I appreciate your comments from down under and I will go out get some magnesium today and hope it does the trick. I will cut the meds in half and slowly wean myself off of them.
I didnt know that OTC painkillers help the situation. I have taken Ibuprofen at home 3 times a day for about 3 weeks.
I take Vitamin C (500mgs) Orange Flavor chewable tablets as well and they make me regular with the bathroom! I also get muscle cramps sometimes bad recently. Maybe I should take potassium as well like bananas What do you think?

Anyway thanks again and look forward to hearing your story i want to tell if you want to tell me at some point.

Bye for now

Bob

Hi Bob,
You will find by taking the magnisium they will also help those muscle cramps, again if I run out and forget to buy them for awhile I will either have a bad leg cramps or the restless leg, I know I just swear by it now. I really do hope they work for you, but as I said take them for awhile continuously so they kick in.
Having a bannana will not be a bad thing at all I would try it, won't hurt. They are so good for you. And your right I don't know how good the OTC tablets are, Darrel takes (neurofen) they supposedly help with the inflammation of his throat area, the DR recommended this to take him off stronger pain killers, so far OK but I'm sure there are times when he would like to take something stronger still. Darrel had his last r/t back in February and Chemo finished the end of January. He had a tumor on the base of his tongue which was the primary and the secondary were in the right side of his neck (lymph nodes), which he had the operation to remove them all, the tumor on his tongue at this stage appears to have gone with all his
37 hits of r/t. He finds though the healing from both surgery and treatment very long and hard. Just yesterday he had a bad day with a huge lump that came up on his left side and swallowing was very difficult, but another day today and feeling a little better. It really is true to take one day at a time. I take the magnisium as I have alot of trouble with my legs due to arthritis so that is how I know about it, I have been giving it to Darrel as well as it seems to have been a side effect of the Chemo.
So that is a little of our story from the Land of Aus. Let me know how you get on, will be interested to know if it helps you as much.
Regards Tracey
