Hello, I appreciate this site. Have questions on an upcoming lingual tonsil biopsyGo ![]() | New ![]() | Find ![]() | Notify ![]() | Tools ![]() | Reply ![]()
Am having direct laryngoscopy with biopsy of back right tongue on lingual tonsil and esophagascopy. Have searched the web and your site for info and have some but it always better to get direct info. from someone who has been through it. Would be interested in your experience with procedure or with a direct rigid laryngoscopy as to side effects after or anything to calm down this scaredy cat who is nervous just going to the doctor. I'll get result in a few days so I'm trying not to focus on that just this part of the puzzle. Any help, thoughts is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hi Tippy Don't go alone. The reason for this is simple: the other person will be under a lot less emotional and physical stress than you and will be much better able to remember any directions and information you get from the docs. Besides, you might not be up to the task of driving yourself home. Also, take notes (this applies to both you and the person with you). I, personally, am not a big advocate of internet searches in situations like this, but that's probably because I'm a huge wimp and nearly everything I found about my particular condition (stage 2 squamous cell carcinoma) and surgery (hemiglossectomy with free flap resection) fit neatly into the "worst case scenario" category. When you're already scared bleepless, stuff like that only makes the situation worse. Above all, relax as much as you can. Stress can only exacerbate things. Howdilly doodilly, survivorinos!

Thanks Julia, you're right in that I am scared but you have to try to get info as best you can. That's why when I found this forum I was hoping for the real deal. Fortunate in that a fluke ct neck showed this, it's about 2 centimeters. So any experiences with this or laryngoscopy experiences, side effects would be helpful.

Hi Tippy, I advocate what Julia says - go with someone. The procedure itself is pretty much simple and guess it would be done under general anesthesia. If so - you wont feel any pain - only a bit of irritation at the spot where they have taken out some of the tissue for the biopsy. The wait for those days is bad but as there is no option spend your time reading, watching TV or sleeping. Try(I am saying TRY and I really advocate it) and be very positive about the outcome as there is no reason to worry till the results arrive. Why worry about something that has not happened but you expect it to happen and it may not even happen. I hope you understood what I penned as I am not too sure I do Just be happy - dont worry. Keep posting and you will get a lot of support from everyone here on the forum - you can well rest assured on that score. Take care and chin up, Ananth Live on your beliefs and strength- and you will become immortal.
