Hi everyone I am Doug, boyfriend of Belle70. She's been on here on my behalf. I thought it time to give it a go. We live in Seattle. I had been diagnosed with throat cancer a year and a half ago aand underwent the required surgery, chemo and radiation. It was tough. I spent the better part of this last year hospitialized due to complications etc. Also did a week in the psycho ward. There have been several phases to this cancer thing the last (Which I am going through now) is the mental part: Depression, anxiety, and opiate withdrawl.
Combine all three and it makes for a lovely summer. Can anyone lend an idea on this phase? I am not myself and haven't been for quite a while. Does this phase eventually go away? Does it get better? Normally I am not so fearfull and depressed. But my energy is low and so is my morale. I just want to talk to others who are going through or have been through the same thing. Thanks for reading this!

Hello Doug

Depression is a common side effect of the treatments, so you are not alone. The other members will tell you so and how they managed it. (See Heathrow Steve's reply here.) See my previous post to Belle70. Tracey is a singer with a band and also had throat cancer and you will find that she has had to fight similar battles. Read her posts, you might find them helpful.

You will feel better.

Best wishes
