Waiting for ENT

Hello everyone. Like a lot of people have said i dont know if i belong on this site.

I went to see my doctor last Monday because i noticed an overgrowth of skin on the inside of my cheek that was white. My doctor has referred me to the local ENT department on a red envelope system, should be seen within 14 days.

I am 41 and was a heavey smoker for 25 years until i stopped 4 years ago.

After looking on the Internet i am very concerned that the growth is cancer.

Hi Sean

Well you've certainly taken the right step. The ENT will certainly have more idea of what the problem is and if it should be a cancer, you've found a good forum here.

However - it has not been diagnosed yet, so keep thinking positive.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that it's not!

Good luck

Pete

Hi Sean..
Im waiting too for my ENT appointment. Ive had this lump on my tongue for along time, on the left side. Then it turns white, and splits open... i peeled the white away, and the lump is still there, my lingual tonsils are red and really lumpy. Im developing another lump on the other side, exactly the same spot.. Im really worried about cancer too. My doctor called it leukoplakia...and referred me to the ENT. My appt isnt until June 13..

Its definately scary..., but hoping for the best...

Im 41 and quit smoking 4.5 years ago.....

Take care..
Kristie

Hi,Im a ten year survivor and very sensitive to any change in my mouth still. One of the things I have learnt tho' is that most changes in my mouth are harmless even if they seem drastic. Try to keep positive until you know for sure,it might be nothing and at least you're in the system now and not ignoring it.

13 years and still kicking it. Never give up your fight.
