A little background...32 year old male, recently quit smoking (2 months ago), been told I have a receding gum and three cavities, not yet filled up as of this posting.
I noticed a sore at the roof of my mouth a few days ago. It's raised, and hurts when I press it with my tongue. It also seems to be growing pretty rapidly, which scares me. It used to be the size of a pinhead; now about 1/5 of the roof of my mouth is sensitive. So...time to go to the dentist? I sure hope not, as that concept scares me VERY badly (please don't ask why, I don't want to discuss it at all, thanks). Or is it one of those things that eventually goes away by itself? |

Hello jamehec
Let us assume it is an 'innocent' lesion caused by trauma (physical or heat). Bathe the area with warm salt water rinses to keep the area comfortable while it heals. If it doesn't resolve within three weeks of its appearing or just keeps getting bigger/worse, please see your dentist about it. It could then be an abcess or other infection or worse. Best wishes Vinod Disclaimer: Please see your own dentist/doctor for a proper diagnosis as my words should not, in any circumstances, be taken as dental/medical advice.
