Hi Rachel, Nothing wrong with being scared.... but don't let it paralyze you. Be scared and fight the fight. Be scared and encourage your family by displaying your strength and fighting through the fear. They'll get that, and love you all the more. Some things you can't control, but you can face the fear and move on.
I prefer to "cast my cares on the Lord" and place my hope in Him to sustain me. This has been a very good technique as I face my fears about cancer and "unknowns". (I'm currently taking meals through a PEG, missing a piece of my arm as it is now a "flap" replacing a missing tongue, wondering if I'll enjoy the benefits of yet another round of radiation). There are plenty of things to be fearful of.... go ahead have the thought of fear, share it with others as you have and then put yourself together and get on about fighting. I don't mean for this to sound like "big" talk, but it is how I recommend fellow survivors to address the issue of cancer within their lives. Wishing you all the best as you continue on this journey..... Fondly, Bob (pembo) |

Hi Rachel, presume you are recouperating and maybe not able to get internet access. Anyway, apprecaite this is a bit of a late reply to you, but I think you will find out that the surgeons, doctors etc can do wonders these days. Tough times ahead for you I know, but just you wait till 12 months from now, sure you'll be pleasantly suprised.
Take care Nigel |

Hi All,
Have just come out of hospital today, surgeon said it made a record for having the treatment and goin home in 6 days. First few days were a blur. Mouth and rest of the face very swollen, NG feeding tube, loads of canulars and lots of blood tests. Managed to keep my teeth so far have to wait for the results next week. Started with very soft food yesterday, would just like to say how much u appreciate food when u can't have it, and water - had no water for the first 3 days. that wasn@t nice. Gotta go back to the hospital to get the clips out of my arm and tummy on Monday, but have been told they won't all come out together they will be took out in stages. Thank u all again for your words and thoughts Love Rachel xx Rparsons |

Hello All,
Recieved my results on thursday - I can now say that I am Cancer Free. My consultant is very happy with the way the operation went, no need for radiotherapy what a bonus. Will have to have a small operation in 12 months to thin the inside of my mouth out, but hey that isn't a problem. Have got some paraylises in my hand where they took the flap from, paraylises on my ear lobe, neck and some on my face but that is a small price to have to pay. Still need to go to the hospital once a week until my wrist heals and I go back to see my consultant in 6 weeks time. I really can't believe how lucky I feel, this is better than any lottery win ever. I really do believe that all the prayers that people said were answered. Many thanks to all of you for your support you all have a special place in my heart. Love Rachel xx Rparsons |
