Evening all - Darren here. Just wanting to say Hi and touch base with people connected with cancer sufferers and really ask a few q's. My dad's cancer we found out yesterday has come back, if it went at all before. He had radio at Cookridge 8 yrs ago around the tongue area, it then came back and he had maxilliofacial surgery with Mr Foo/Worrell about 4 yrs ago. He felt in pain 6 weeks ago and the upshot is it has returned and spread along his jaw. A tumout the size of a golf ball is in his neck and they can't operate now. Chemo starts week next Monday at Cookridge to see if they can halt its spread/shrink it. I/we are obviously scared, concerned and worried that this maybe the end of the line so to speak and with 2 lovely young daughters, who are the apple of his eye I am left hurt/confused etc etc.

Anyone with anything to say or who has been thru summat similar, please advise/discuss with us. thanks and keep positive out there Darren.

I'm sorry to hear of your dad's plight Darren and although Iv'e had SSC of the tongue and neck Cancer Ive been lucky I guess that it was halted. I can't imagine what it would be like facing that dilema for a second time, let alone a third. Please give your dad my sincerest best wishes with his treatment and I hope he pulls through all this. He certainly deserves to after fighting for so long. Keep us informed of his progress.
Steve

Hello Darren I am so sorry to hear of your father's further battle with this dreaded cancer. It's a worrying and frightening time for all of you. I have had three bouts with it too (if you can be bothered you can read my story on the homepage) I had two lots of surgery to replace my jaw, sixteen months apart, then it went into my skull, which was zapped with Gamma radiation. I know that is different to your dad's experience but just wanted to let you know that I'm still here to make a nuisance of myself!! I wish your dad well and pray the chemo shrinks the tumour and he is soon back to enjoying life with his family. Best wishes Brenda.

Darren,

I too add my best wishes along with the others, and am hoping the absolute best for your Dad. My heart goes out to you, his grandchildren, and all the family. Please remember that God indeed loves you all and there will be lots of prayers going up on Dad's behalf... and yours. Take each moment/day as it comes... the good and the difficult... and just do the best you can. Give the rest to your higher power. There is nothing more any of us can do than that. Shower your Dad with love and understanding and let him know that people from all over the globe are sending their well wishes. Keep in touch with us and share what is on your mind, any time.

From my heart,

Melanie

thanks Vinod I am sure you remember my dad !

Melanie thanks. They have been round today for sunday dinner and the morphine is making him drowsy and itchy and is apparently not being treated for 2 weeks now, unless the dates are wrong, we need to query this. Laura is doing what 4 .5 yr olds do with their grandad's and Maeve just likes to look around, taking sights and sounds in, not a lot else you can do at 6 weeks really ! thanks again and speak soon. Darren
