Hi Mimi,

Yes it was a treat to go out and have a nice meal again to day, I have done the same, yes, I am very fortunate to have wonderful friends to chat to, see and go out with, and have some one to take care of me when things get bad at home, about after the 5th Week may be, so I’m hanging on, and hope from Wednesday, when I start Chemo I can endure the Nausea, that may come with it, because my main problem is I have to eat and drink, if the chemo makes me feel sick I wont want to, but so far these new tablets are working, even though I was told they are 50 dollars each in the states.

I’m taking it a day at a time, the doctors say I can lick this and are very happy with progress so far, but its early days. 6 more weeks to go, then on the mend hopefully.

LMTU,

Let me know how the chemo goes. As I was told Thursday looks like I will be having Chemo since it spread to my lungs after being clear in April.

Best of Luck,
Pam

Hi Guys well I don’t know if its because I have the most fabulous team of doctors in the world or I am lucky, but I had been feeling sick most of the time, so it stopped my appetite, so much so I did not eat much for 3 days, even though the Monk taking care of me tried to make me eat it was not till I stopped taking the Nausea tablets, that I felt good enough to eat, then as I said, a dear friend took me to Sizzlers and Bingo I was fine again, for eating, I told the doctor he said we have these amazing Nasea' Tablets' (ramosetron) from Japan, but they are 40 dollars each in the states, but we can get them for 500 baht I said give me 20 and wow do they work.

Then today I had one of my 6 sessions of chemo, This is a new expensive chemo, but I wont loose my hair and Ill feel good, all through it also the magic ingredient is, I had 3 hours of Saline drip, so now I don’t know if I’m a junky or its the combination all sorts of things, I feel wonderful, so there you have it.

2 more days radiation, then only 5 weeks to go, its flying by and now I feel like I could run to 100 yards so may be im’ lucky or there is worst to come.

Let’s hope so as I have always been a very lucky guy.

Good luck to you, my neck mass has now stopped growing and the mass feels so much better, I saw 4 others with same to day and one was a Monk one a Policeman and one looked like a truck driver, I spoke to one, he said his came up with in 2 months also. But they are curing it, let’s hope its good news all round.

Ill let you know more as it happens.

Jon,

Sorry to say that the 'report' from Johns Hopkins is a hoax and has been floating around for a while.

Johns Hopkins Hoax

The link states that JH has a rebuttal on their website:

Johns Hopkins Rebuttal

I'm so glad that you're feeling better! You sound so upbeat and positive. Good on you!

Hi Guys I'm back,

Well if I told you things were easy with this treatment I would be lying, after 35 shots of Radiation and 4 bags of Poisonous Chemo, with 2 more to go, I think I know what they mean when my Team of doctors said, we are gong to knock this Tumor out with very harsh treatment.

To have Chemo and Radiation at the same time you know what they mean, by harsh treatment its hell.

Mainly with being sick every 30 mins 24 hours a day for 48 hours, until you can find a drug that stops the sickness, I did in the end but it cost a fortune.

Then you have to put up from the radiation Flem lumps of it continuously coming up to your throat and you have to spit it out, just about every Hour, of the day and night, big balls of it at times.

The worst apart from that, is loosing your sense of taste and apatite, I love my food and to not want food at all is a crime.

If you do eat by mouth it tastes like Parrot dropping and Iron Fillings, so it cures you of wanting any food at all.

So the alternative is a nose Tube or PEG feeding Tube into your Stomach, to which I refused, I went for the nose tube, glad I did now.

Well I'm pleased to say after 35 shots of radiation and 4 shots of Chemo the Doctors are so please my Tumor has shrink from 7 cm to 1/2 cm now and still shrinking. so that's good news, the rest will go when I have the rest of the chemo, that I was taken off, owing to my bad reactions to it... so 2 more starting next week I think yuk

All I have to do then, is get strong again and im having the very latest Stem cell treatment as well to renew my dead cells killed off by the Chemo.... something they do here in thailand and is well documented to work amzingly......Im so looking forward to waiting till my taste comes back 2 to 9 months and my flem is stopping now, then learn how to eat again, which is my biggest problem now eating.

I dream of all those fabulous Diner parties i use to go to, with all my wonderful friends, but not for me for at least 6 months to a year sorry to say.

So what the doctors tell me is so good, the tumor has shrunk so small the chances of a complete cure is now 80% so i can live with that and I hope in a couple of months, it will be even better odds.

So you wanted the truth and I hope it helps any one else who has this fast acting HPV virus, as the doctor says if you catch it early, as we have, it can go as fast as it can arrive, if you leave it, no hope of a cure. and with the bill rising by the day to nealy a million baht or more by the time its finished...you can check the currency, its is horendously exspensive, but this treatment in the Uk who only do half of it and USA is from $150,000 you can see my life has been spare hopefully, with a small price to pay. The treatments and the latest equipment they use here, they only have in very few countries, so I consider my self very lucky in deed.

Hi All

Well I came out of Hospital having to stay as I was not eating or drinking owing to a serious loss of appetite.

I have now had my feeding tube taken out as I went against the idea of a Peg fitted I’m glad I did I had lost 25 kilos in weight and now I have gained 10 kilos the doctors say I need another 6 kilos to be at my perfect weight but don’t find it so easy eating by mouth as everything taste of cardboard and parrot droppings.

I find I can drink pomegranate and grape juice ok but milk seems to bring back the flem in my mouth I can eat spag bog the frozen packet type but mostly I can taste so much salt in it topped with a slice of ham and poached eggs and boiled veg potatoes carrots onions mixed with butter and Honey this is it so far any one else know of any good recipes.

I have to go for a MRI scan as my Lymph nodes seems to have shrunk down to 1 cm and they are hoping more by 13 march from 6 cm so they say the primary base of neck should be same so good for me but warned me if they don’t like what they see its the surgeons knife cut out lymph nodes and may be some base of tongue but he don’t think so with me God how frightening is that to think about.

So that it trying to eat and put on more weight. My strength has come back but last couple of days I feel weak but it’s the boring diet I think.

Good morning lmtu,
Good to see you back again and facing up to life. Quite a change from your early posts. You say you have a boring diet; it looks quite interesting to me,but I think I will give the parrot droppings a miss.Tell me what is spag bog? not another ornithological by-product I assume.
The lack of energy is not unusual, your whole system has taken quite a knock and will take time to recover.
Keep Smiling
John

Hi Jon

You do seem in better spirits than when you first joined. Congratulations!

Have you tried soy milk instead of regular milk? It doesn't taste quite the same as the real thing, but it doesn't cause a phlegm buildup. Since you're trying to put on weight, remember that gravy is a food group.

John,

Spag bog is Spaghetti Bolognese. Funny thing is that I never heard it called spag bog until I went to England. Guess you didn't get the memo.

Stay well!

Good evening Mimi,
Thankyou for putting me right on spag bog, I did look in the Oxford list of correct Cullinary Terms and found fish and finerks, bangers and mash, belly buster, snorkers, growlers, tiddy ogies, neeps and tatties, chucky butties and fly pies amongst other delicacies but no spag bog. I intend to write to the committee dealing with the finer points of the English language and point out this sad omission.
Keep Smiling
John

John,

Too funny! I'm going to name my next dog Snerkers and the next cat either Finerks or Tatty. If I keep putting on the weight, you can refer to me as Belly Buster.

It may be of slight interest to you that the US Food and Drug Administration is considering lifting the ban on imported haggis.

US takes another look at Scotland's haggis

And in case new laws aren't passed, there's also a recipe I can use to make my own; reading it however, is another Belly Buster.

Our Beloved Haggis! (Recipe included)

Enjoy the weekend!

Mimi

Hi Guys well its been a few months since I write and some one reminded me to get back to you?

Well its all Good news so far after going through hell and bck as my team Doctors said we are not trying to lets you have a few years more we are going to cure you.

Fortunatly for me I cought this VIRUS fast and the quicker you catch i the more chance of a cure the HPV Virus as some of you may well know is not so life threatening as a Normal cancer or small Tumor in my case.

Now all signs of the swelling has gone the MRI Scan came back with onlt Scar Tissue showing and the bad cells in my blood were Killed with the latest Chemo and Radiation I wa slucky enough to have here in thailand there is only 2 Hospitals here with the new Treatment if I had gone to the UK I would have had to have my Tongue cut out as I cna only have the exspensive treatment privately there.

So the only side effect i have now id 20% of my tatse Budds not working dry Mouth if i talk to much and all other signs have gone now and I feel better than i did before and i have lost 17 kg grams so I look so good now also so if you ahve this Problem there is hope and you can get over if tyhe Doctors told me I have 80% chance of living more than 10 years if I have contant Scans after 5 years free of any signs of a recourence ill be fine but now im so now i have not been happier in a long time, No worries good income amazing ho9me and living in paradise.

Good luck to you all?

LMTU
