I am very worried about a swelling behind my ear under where my top and bottom jaw joins.

There is a 1 1/2 inch oval shaped swelling there for about one month now, I have taken all antibiotics that would normally rectify any infection, and now I notice sometimes I have pins and needles in my little finger and the one next to it, only on one side left.

I am very concerned about this and if I go to the hospital will they want to cut it out or what do you think it might be thank you .

As you can imagine I'm so worried, that I am going to die, if its a fast acting Cancer.

Please can any one put my mind at rest, of course I know I will have to go to Hospital soon, but trying to get the benefit of your experience, before I pluck up the courage, some times I can feel it throbbing.

Hi,

Well done for posting. Right now you don't know what it is. You need to make an appointment with your GP and get it checked out. The GP may refer you to specialist for further investigation. Main thing is to seek advice and get checked out.

Good luck and let us know how you get on?

regards

Thanks so much for your reply! any help I can get will be a bonus, to get up the nerve to go and visit the hospital. Im wondering if its the Human Pav Virus, as I had an apses in the back of my throat a month ago and then the Lymph Gland has now swollen, as I have said.

Has any one else had similar or can give me an Idea of what to expect if I go to the hospital I'm a Baby as far as injections and operations are concerned.

Thank you so much once again.

Good Morning l.m.t.u,
Show me the person who likes injections and operations and I will show you a person who does not exist.Follow Kenny's advice and see your GP,not when you have plucked up the courage; first thing Tuesday morning!
From the details you submitted for your public profile you seem be convinced that you have a cancer problem and you are just waiting for someone to say so, which is a good reason to see your GP and get things sorted out.
Cancer's best friend is delay. Prompt attention minimises the treatment required, delay allows the cancer to progress and maximises the required treatment.
It may well be that the problem is not cancer but you can not afford to take that risk and whatever it is needs to be sorted out so post a message on Tuesday evening and let us know what your GP has to say.
I am sorry if I sound a bit blunt but I am one of those old fashioned people who tends to get to the point rather too quickly without too many frills............What do you expect from a Tyke?
Keep Smiling
John

listen to John Spencer. focus on getting to your GP. don't muddle the issue. cancer does not wait for other problems to be resolved. hopefully, it will be something minor.

Hi,

If you are a baby I am surprised you have even logged onto this website let alone read some of the stories on here.

You should do as we tell you. Some of us have had horrific times, simply because we did not seek medical advise soon enough.

Do as John is telling you and get to your GP first thing on Tuesday morning and don't forget we are here to give you support, if you need it.

Hi LMTU

Take John's advice. GO TO THE DOCTOR NOW! That's the only way you can find out whether or not you have cancer. The questions you've brought up can only be answered by a doctor.

You said you're in a lot of pain and taking pain killers. Eventually they will stop working, and could actually do more harm than good. You're probably not sleeping much because of the pain. This will not get better the longer you wait.

No, injections are not pleasant, nor is surgery. Not everything in life is going to be pleasant. That said, leaving pain untreated, along with all of the other problems you indicated, is far worse than any injection.

"If it was that easy to go to the doctor, I'm sure I would"? I'm not sure what you mean by that, but if it's logistics, have someone take you. Have them go into the appointment with you (this is a time when you really don't want to be alone). You have the NHS.

The decision is ultimately yours, but it's not likely that this situation is going to clear up on its own.

If you think it's due to HPV your lymph nodes may be reacting to cancer cell infection. Did you have severe flu/tonsilitis type symptoms?
Did the lymph nodes swell quickly over a few days.
I'd ask for a biopsy NOW!
Do It

Hi Tony thanks for your message its much appreciated.

The only symptoms I had before the swelling was a boil type infection at the back of my throat for about a week, I took some antibiotics and it went.

Then this swelling came up about 5 weeks ago a few days after the Infection went, now any amount of antibiotics will not make the swelling go down, look like my lymph glad on the left side of my face, under my ear where the jaw bone joins.

So as you say till I go to the hospital, when i get the nerve up, I will not know what do you think it is.

Kind regards

To LMTU
There could not be anyone worse than me where it comes to hospitals and operations.
Only for the team of doctors looking after me nothing would have been done and I would be in the same state worried to death, but they bring you along, lucky they were not listening to me, surgery was done, hard op, but they dont let you suffer, now I have 22 R/T sessions done wasen't doing any of that.
The people on the forum will make you see! that are worth listening to.They have been there and done that. I have to say a big Thank's to the team of Doctors and the forum, what ever is in the furture Ican only deal with when it comes.
