Hi Everyone,

I am new to this site, so I hope you can help!.
I have been ill for over a year, It started with a lump on the left side of my neck that wouldn't go down, doctors said it was a small gland don't worry, so I didn't. I began to feel really tired and last August my abdomen swelled up, making me look at least eight months pregnant, scans showed an enlarged spleen, nothing else was done about it!. I have been very ill as well, my immune system is a no-show. In the last few months I noticed that my lymph node was getting bigger, and I was more tired, I have been having night sweats, severe itching and I have lost weight. My neck and throat have begun to hurt etc. My consultant refered me to an ENT consultant he put a camera up my nose which showed my Lingual tonsils are enlarged, I don't know anything about Lingual Tonsils? Can anyone tell me if it could all be connected, and to why I have enlarged Lingual Tonsils and Lymph nodes please?
I am having two biopsies on wednesday one of the tonsils and one of the lymph node.

So sorry if it appears I have just gone on, like I said I am new to this!!

Thank you

Susie Smiler

Hi Susie,

I'm sure you must be very worried at the moment. It sounds as if the medical profession just don't know what's wrong with you, and are trying to eliminate everything. I can't help thinking that because you have been unwell for so long, if they thought there was any possibility of it being cancer then it would have been checked out earlier. I first went to a doctor in July whilst on holiday in Cyprus, and then went back to my own GP all through August and September. I saw a consultant at the end of September and then had my tonsils out. I recieved my diagnosis a couple of weeks after that. I'm sure you are really worried at the moment, but try not to panic too much until the test results come back. Best of Luck on Wednesday, and I hope everything turns out OK.

Wink Hi Jenni,

Thank you very much for your reply, I am not too worried, I am just sick of being so tired and drained all the time. My neck just hurts more, I am a medical blunder and every doctors nightmare!!.
I hope that you are well, thank you again.

Best wishes Susie.

SmilerThank you Jeff

I know deep down really that there's nothing really to worry about, I am just being a wimp and feeling sorry for myself, which is really selfish of me as there are many of those who are really ill, I will just wait for my biopsy results.

Best wishes Susie

Susie,
I know how you feel. When I was undergoing biopsy scans etc i found it really stressful. I used to find myself shaking! I was so muchh better once i knew what i was dealing with. Everything moved very fast from when I first visited my gp to my op.(less than 6 weeks).
Good luck for Wednesday

Anne

SmilerThank you Anne

I appriciate you taking the time to post me a message.

What was your diagnosis? that's if you don't mind me asking?

I feel quite calm about tomorrows op, I'm sure that I just have a cyst or something else that isn't anything to worry about.

I suffered with Endometriosis for many yrs and this yr I had a hysterectomy, so every time I mentioned that I was feeling really tired they blamed it on that, and no one seemed to want to take responsability whilest I was under another consultant for something else!! Since I saw my new consultant it has been five weeks, and like you said Anne, everything has moved very fast.

I hope that you are feeling better, it's nice to know that others have similar thoughts and anxieties and that we're not all on our own.

My nan lives in Sutton Coldfield, and I live about an hours drive away!!

Best wishes Susie x

Hello Susie
If you had your op at Worcester hospital I can only say the team there are so helpful. Or are you in Bromsgrove area?

You will feel sore in the thoat for about 10 days. Gargles are helpful, but time the best for taking away discomfort.

Susiew sounds exactly like me. I've been sick for over a year. Sore, hoarse throat, swollen lymph glands, very tired, abdomen is huge. They said last summer that I had Epstein-Barr, but I'm getting worse. They did a PET scan & went to ENT -- cyst on lingual toncils. Am having a biopsy on March 23rd.

What is meant by Lymph node was active?

Susie, how are you doing?

Hi Jane

My lymph node came back showing Reactive sinus hypocintosis, my ENT consultant didn't know what this meant, after the operation he said the nodes were active, they are fighting something, apparently they change colour when this happens.

Its odd that we have similiar symptoms and they can't seem to find out what is wrong, I too have been getting worse.

I have an enlarged spleen and I look eight months pregnant, it is uncomfortable to lie down and sit. I have fluid all over my body and have been diagnoised with athritus in the knee, I already have it in my spine!!

I hope you are feeling better today, let me know how you get on please.

Take care Susie

Susie, I was constantly at my doctors for 8 months feeling very tired all the time. I also had sore throats and a lump in my neck gland. and NIGHT SWEATS (VERY IMPORTANT) AND ITCHING. I was finally diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma and had to undergo surgery and chemo. Because of your symptoms I am concerned. Please have your doctor check you for this.
