A bit about me and my husband

Hello to all
30 years ago my husband had hodgkins disease. He was treated with radiation. All has been fine.
He now has an invasive squamous cell tumor at the base of his tongue - We were initially told it was a t2 - now after the PET scan there are 2 nodes involved so it is a "catch all" phase four as it isn't anyplace else in his body.
From what I have been able to research, this tumor could be a result of the radiation 30 years ago. He is a non smoker etc.
I was lucky that my research directed me to two doctors in Florida who have experience and an interest in this tumor. Neither one was excited about re-radiating the same site - but there is no choice. I also emailed Dr. Steiner in Germany who is working with laser. Unfortunately we would have to go to Germany and there would be no guarantee. Surgery was never an option.
My question. Anyone know anyone who has be re-radiated in the same spot? How are people handling flouride treatments?

Thank you in advance

Carole

Well, this type of malignant cancer can be reduced by Mohs' surgery which reduces the tumor size. It may also be surgically removed, (but also requires excess skin around the are to be removed as well), and if those dont work, chemotherapy may help, as well as more radiation. But the thing about this kind of tumor is that it has a probability in comming back after it has been removed.
And to anwser a little bit of your question, by cousins friend had skin cancer, and developed a gastric neoplasm some how in his stomach. However, I do beleive that it eventually died out from some radiation, and he was fine again I'd recommend doing whatever the your specialists say Big Grin, or wait for Vinod to come by your post as he is very knowledgable, and talk about what he might suggest to your doctors. I got this information from a pamphlet in which i still have from the day he had the tumor and the information is probably a little out - dated. And i really hope it gets better, and you have my best wishes- Jin Pak
