Hi David

Sounds like you got some confusing but otherwise good news--keep an eye on the situation, though.

radioactive isotopes that are selectively uptaken by the thyroid are often used to help scans 'see' it better

Hi David, I haven't had one myself but I have a mate who has had cancer and he still goes to Nuclear Meds a lot, he doesn't have any problems with it.
I take a lot of patients to NMeds at work and they all seem to cope with it too.

Hi All,
I had the 1st of two 123 iodine scans on Wednesday for suspected lingual thyroid which lasted an hour and twenty minutes.
The day after I returned and they started the scan again and after about half an hour the radiologist came over and said we can't see a lingul thyroid so adjusted the plate above my head.
After about 15 minutes after he said stopped the scanner and lifted the plate above my head and the look on his face said it all really because he had been really chatty before the scan and looked quite upset.
He just said you haven't got a lingual thyroid so I said whats next a biopsy? He replied...that's what we've just been talking about.
We will send a report to your consultant and will hear from them in due course.
I'm worried sick now and wondered if you could offer any advice.I see the consultant on Tuesday next week and it can't come soon enough.
Thanks for reading,
Best Wishes,
David.

Unfortunately, one of the side effects on this roller coaster is called 'second guessing' You read messages in every twitch of the face, every hesitation and cough. It's bound to happen.

Everyone will agree that the waiting is unbearable. Have you told any of your friends and family yet, it does make the waiting and the worrying easier if you can share it with someone.

Hi there,
I have told some of my friends but not my mum and dad.I don't see the point of worrying them until I find out exactly what's wrong.

I'm really worried which i'm sure we can all relate to that.

Hi Angie,
They are in their seventies....I'm more bothered about them than myself.
