Hello Ric and Welcome to RDOC. I have Oral Cancer as well. Let me know what all you want to know about and I will try to help you with you questions. I live in Las Vegas however I went to UCI-Irving to have my work done. THEY ARE GREAT!!! If you would like to know more about the Doctor that I went to, let me know. He is the kindest most caring Doctor I have been to in quite some time. I have seen a lot of them too in my 15 years plus with Oral Cancer.. I am so so sorry that you have to face this and so young. GOD BLESS YOU RIC. Always, Vicki Lynn

Welcome to Rick and to Marion,

Like Vicki Lynn, I was treated at UC-Irvine. Small world. I was fortunate that the radiation worked on my tonsil cancer, and spared me surgery. Every case is a little different.

Right now I'd suggest having faith that with early detection and good medical care they will get rid of the cancer. So for now do as much as you can to enjoy all your favorite foods, because once they start screwing around with your mouth -- its just too depressing to think about.

Good luck,

Ron

Vicki, I consider my main doctor there to be Terry Shibuya in otolaryngology. I also see Jeffrey Kuo in radiology, and have consulted the dentist, Dr. Lowe, and another oncologist whose role I never quite understood named Ignatius Ou.
