my husband is going through a total Glausectomy, Lymph node dissection, reconstruction and other possible surgeries depending on what they find when they are in the middle of the surgery. This is our 2nd time of a major surgery dealing with his Cancer. The 1st major surgery he had a partial Glausectomy and Lymph Node dissection and reconstruction which was last February. I am soooooooo scared because I know what the past 8 months has been like plus the time before the surgery when they were just cutting away in the clear margerin.. I have been praying hard. How is he ever going to enjoy food again?

Hi Jen,

Welcome to the site that noone wants to join. I am so sorry to hear about your husband. My partner is currently undergoing tests to see if he has a recurrence ..or worse. I too am terrified of possible outcomes.

I am afraid I dont have any idea about how your husbands treatment will affect his eating. Hopefully someone else with experience of tongue cancer will be able to offer advice.

Did he have radiation last time?

Thinking of you,
Warmly,
Cathy

Sorry about your partner also. I think it is worse going through this a 2nd time. The tumor came up so quick. May God be with you during this time and make you strong. Jen

Dear Jen

Try not to feel scared ... your husband will feel this and your feelings will infect him.

I have had tongue cancer twice; just coming out of the second round of operations. I am eating, still soft diet but feel that there is a strong possibility of Steak for Christmas lunch!

Positive thinking is the order of the day. Stay calm and take comfort where it is offered.

Waspy xx

Hi Jen, I feel for you and your husband it must be very scary for the second time I know when I had biopsies after my op I was so scared that the C was back I was numb with fear and could not talk about it to anyone.
The Cancer group I used to go to had many patients with Toungue Cancer and I was amazed that they could talk and eat better than me who did not have toungue Cancer.
I am sure by what i learrt that your husband s eating will be ok it just take time.
I have only now after 7 years getting taste back.
Keep posting on here and asking anything that worries you.
Allways someone one line to helpyou.
My prayers with you today.

Paul
