Hello, I am just getting over two op's one down the throat, second outside cut ear to ear to remove Lymph glands; a journey to Hell and back !

I send you this Poem.

THROUGH MY OWN EYES. WRITTEN JULY 2004

THE VIOLENT IMPACT ON MY LIVING TISSUE,
INFLAMMATION PRESSING ON AN AREA OF NERVE ACTIVITY.
NOW SUMMER IS HERE, I AM SUN SENSITIVE.

FORCE OF CIRCUMSTANCE, MY FRAGMENTED LIFE,
HAS TRANFORMED ME INTO A ROMANTIC IMAGE,
WILL I SLEEP AGAIN WARMED BY ANOTHER BODY?

LOVE AND SWEETNESS GO SO CLOSLEY TOGETHER,
CRAVING AND HUNGER IS A SYMBOL OF DESIRE,
WHY THIS HUSHED-UP RESISTANCE TO SWALLOWING.

LOVE HAS NO FEAR,EVEN OF DEATH,
THE SYMBOL OF LOVE IS THE HEART,
THIS PRESCIOUS ORGAN CANNOT BE ATTACKED BY CANCER.

HOW DEVELOPED ARE MY FACULTIES FOR SELF SURRENDER?
PRECISELY WHAT AM I NOT PREPARED TO DO?
ILLNESS IS A PATH TO PERFECTION.

I had a total glossectomy and a neck dissesction just a little over 3 years ago.

I'm on permanent PEG and all I can say regarding taste and food is that I guess I must, somehow and without realising it, have adapted. What really surprises me is how little I miss things that I used to really enjoy.

Incidentally I do agree with your comments regarding awaredness of Head & Neck cancer.

Anybody out there got any TV or """showbiz""" connections?

Hello, my neck is as solid as a rock and I look like a hamster when I get up, then my nose runs like a tap and after about two hours I am ready to rock and roll.
Can't taste anything and no saliva, but hell I'm still here.
What did you think of the poem ?
