I shall be thinking of you on Tuesday next. I had the same surgery almost exactly a year ago and was very worried that my talking days were over. All went well and my is perfectly understandable. Eating is not a huge problem and I can even manage crisps (slowly). Best wishes Bea. Cool

Hi Gerald

Wish I'd seen your post earlier. I'm also in Devon (Exeter) - where are you having your op?

I had tonsil cancer almost 3 years ago, so a little different to your case but there will be similarities.

Hope it went well; look forward to reading your posts soon.

Dave

Hi Gerald,
I've only just read your posts and I would like to wish you all the luck in the world. I had 3 major surgeries just 11 months ago for tumours in my upper palate, my gum and jaw bone and my lymph nodes. Two of the ops involved taking bones from both my lower legs to replace my jaw bone and rebuild my face. 2 months after that I had a course of radio therapy and chemo therapy - (I spent my 50th birthday hooked up to a chemo machine all day)! It was a gruelling time but positive thinking and a sense of humour helped me and my family get through it. Obviously I've got quite a bit of scarring and am left with a slight speech impediment, which my brother affectionately refers to as 'talking with a limp'! There is very little I can't eat, although it all has to be very small pieces and is a very slow process - but it's a small price to pay for still being here. I hope my story helps to give you a little encouragement and I look forward to seeing the post telling us all how well you are doing. All the best Gerald. We're all thinking of you.

Hi Gerald

That is some wonderful and happy news! Please remember to be careful in the sun--use sunblock at all times.

Gerald
Good news indeed!
Lucky to avoid the R/T - in the end I found that harder to deal with than the surgery.
Just back from a couple of weeks in the sun myself.
Enjoy having your life back!
