hello,
really not sure what to say, my partner was told this week that he has mouth cancer, it is affecting the roof of his mouth, throat, and ear.
He is being admitted to hospital on monday, and hopefully they are going to operate on tues,
we are still in shock, and living in a dream/nightmare at the moment

Good Afternoon Faith,
When you or a loved one is diagnosed with cancer you suddenly discover what it must feel like to be struck by lightening.I am not going to pretend that things will be easy for you both over the coming weeks and months because they won't,but take a look at the postings on this website and keep in mind the fact that most of us are mouth cancer survivors so we know how the two of you are feeling right now. Come Tuesday it will be just seven years to the day since I had the surgery and I lead a very near normal life, and have done for most of that seven years. The normality is a little bit different with some changes but the human frame is quite good at accepting changes.
At seven years I am something of a novice, some of the members are much further down the line.
Tuesday is quite a coincidence, I hope your partners surgery and recovery go is well as my own.
This website is dedicated to helping people like you, if you have questions go right ahead and ask, no one will gainsay you for asking simple questions...remember we were all at that stage, if you just want a shoulder to cry on you will probably find one of those here too.
Please let us know how things go.
Keep Smiling
John

Hello Faith
So sorry you've had to come to this website, but you will find it a wonderful resource. I'm rather new on here and have only just finished my treatment for tonsil cancer, but there will be others on here who have much more relevant experience for you to draw on. We all know what it feels like when you first get the diagnosis, but you do get used to it - and get on with it - after the shock has worn off.
Good luck and best wishes to you both.
Vicky
