Hello Denny

Welcome to this community. According to your profile, you had a squamous cell carcinoma diagnosed on July 30 2007 that was treated with radiotherapy. While mouth (and throat) cancers can recur, the chances of recurrence decrease with time which is why the intervals between the review follow-up appointments with the oncologist/surgeon get longer as the years pass. From the survivor stories on the MCF website, you will see that people do survive and that sometimes the cancer can recur. The key is to live your live to the full each day and not worry about the possibility. Read the various stories and be inspired.

Best wishes
Vinod Coffee

Hi Denny. I haven't posted my story exactly but I had SCC 11 years ago and I'm still going strong. Vinod is right, live life to the full and try not to think of the down side of reoccurance, it may never happen. Hagg.

13 years and still kicking it. Never give up your fight.

Hello my name is denise and I have cancer again on the false vocal chord and above. The doctor is going to remove it with laser surgery, anyone have any type of this surgery, was concerned about the swelling and the doc said that I may need a feeding tube and a trach to breath, these are two things that conern me, any advice or experience on this, I would appreciate a post
thanks denimite@verizon.net

Hi Denny

Laser surgery is successfully used for vocal cord cancer.

We are here to help with any questions you may have.

Thank you for the postings, still wanting to know about expected swelling of the throat, for the need of trach and feeding tube? Anyone been down this road?
