Hello Nathan

Have a look at our Laryngectomees Forum specifically set up for members to ask questions about larynx cancer treatments, surgery and recovery and share experiences on how life is after a laryngectomy. You can post any specific questions you have there and our members will try to help answer your queries.

Best wishes

Hi Nathan,
My name is Ananth and I cancer of the larynx but as I refused to go in for surgery and the radiation and chemo seemed to have done the trick - my larynx are still there and so are my vocal chords. The problem is still as being back to square one as I have a tracheostomy and have a peg in my stomach - which has ment I have no voice or any way I can eat or drink orally.
I really could not bear the thought of not being able to talk and if I could I prefered my own voice ( I know its not possible but then...). As I had a lot of time on my hands now that cancer is an old friend and he hangs around with me and I with him - I had to do something and created what I call "an orator" ( something like "terminatorSmiler).
I can only give you the details of the same and how to make one very easily sitting at home once I know if you still have your larynx or have they removed your complete voice box? As I did not get my voice removed - I with the help of my Orator have almost close to very very normal speech and people who do not know me cannot even come close to think I do not really have a voice.
Do write and lets see what we can do.
Love,
Ananth

Dear Nathan

oooopS!! there is a big slip between the cup and the lip and Nathan did sound more masucline. However, this gets better every time as I just love female Company and so welcome to my party. Will mail you on the id you gave me as its great news that you still have your larynx and if that is so - I am looking forward to experimenting on you!! I am not the crazy scientest - so you dont have to worry. You could read my story on the main page under the heading of "Ananth's story" ( if you have not already that is.
Yes, I use both - yahoo as well as MSN messenger - though I prefer Yahoo as I find it clearer to even talk to through the mike and the web cam gives you some great clear views. Nathan - Walmart and I go back a long time and I used to do a lot of my shopping at Sams - but that was a long time ago. The Mart is now coming into India in a major way and its giving sleepless nights to a lot of people. Lets see what the future holds.
I will be in touch with you on the mail id you gave me. Dont worry about anything terrible happening as it all has happened and there is nothing left to get worse. What interests me most is that you have your larynx and I would love to see you talk normally.
Till later Nathan- take care and lots of love.
Ananth
