Hi

I am 33 years young & on tuesday 3rd i am off to see the maxilofacial surgeon on a super urgent referal from doc, i am going private, but NHS would have seen me Friday anyway.

So, my story. I am been a mouth ulcer sufferer since 8 years old, at least one a week. About 8 weeks ago i developed 30 MU, ranging from 1-2mm to 25mm (an inch, i kid you not) I put up with them for 3 weeks before seeing GP who put me on anti-viral, tramadol, brufen & paracetamol for pain. A few days later the earache started, was given a steroid
Mouthwash, which only helped healing, the MU, but when one went another appears.

I have been back to doc every week for last 5 weeks, was given strong antibiotics before Xmas as the inch big ulcer still hadn't healed & was bleeding. Went back to doc again on Thursday because of followIng.

27 MU including inch size one
Persistent earache  in right ear (same side as large MU)
Hearing loss in right ear
Enlarged lymPh glands on right side, but they are not mobile, doc reckons one to be walnut size.
Feeling of lump I'n osopheogus (spell?) about Heart height.
White patches (not thrush) on tongue along with slightly red bumps
Stone and a half weight loss.

She referred me urgently to her "friend" maxilofacial consultant, as she wanted me seen.

I don't smoke, never have, i rarely drink & to my knowledge have never had the HPV virus.

So my question is, could it really be mouth cancer?

And what questions do i ask the maxilofacial fella on Tuesday?

I am a mum to 3 boys, And have an amazing husband, so as u can imagine i am very scared.  I struggle to eat, can't kiss my husband or kids because of the pain & talking is pure agony, i would rather have 10 children than this  pain!

I should add i had a submucous diathermy done at beginning of sept & have had 3 bouts of tonsillitis too I'n that time.

I appreciate that my issue is nothing compared to the things you brave souls are currently going through, but that any ideas or thoughts you could give me would really be gratefully received.

Thank you for reading this. J

Hello SupperJJ

The history and multiple ulcers tends towards a tentative diagnosis of a severe bout of recurrent major aphthous ulcers. The lymph node enlargement could be related to this. The discomfort could contribute to eating less and weight loss. The lump felt in throat could be due to an ulcer in the mucosa of the upper oesophagus (we only see what is in the mouth!). The right earpain could be referred pain from the large MU on the right. Please get a full investigation for a proper diagnosis as this is not possible over the Internet.

Hope that helps. Let us know how you geton.

Best wishes
