Cancer patients can now donate tissue samples for research purposes to onCore UK, a national biobank.
Patients in selected NHS trusts can opt to donate samples of their tumour and blood to the bank. In the future, scientists will be able to apply to use these samples to understand more about cancer and to develop new treatments and cures for the disease. onCore UK’s archive is funded by Cancer Research UK, the Department of Health and the Medical Research Council.
