Hi everyone

You may have noticed the change in appearance of the site. The web site now reflects our newly established Mouth Cancer Foundation - a not-for-profit organisation with intentions of becoming a registered charity.

The main web address will still be http://www.rdoc.org.uk

But you should also be able to access the site via http://www.mouthcancerawareness.org

and http://www.mouthcancerfoundation.org

As the Foundation, we hope to do more!

All the best, Krishan :coffee:

Good luck with the project Krishan as a webmaster I know what hard work goes into ensuring everything runs smoothly on a site.

Krishan - good news about Foundation.

I had heard that Dr. J and the rdoc site had got a mention in """a hospital magazine""".

Do you know if that related to the change of status?

Cheers

Another great point Krishan is that your Alexa toolbar rating has been creeping up really rapidly this past few months. We were also Alexaed today and I see you have been too. You are now ranking 167,992. I recall not that many months ago you were over 500,000.

So well done.

For those who do not know what Alexa is, go to alexa.com at http://www.alexa.com/ and you can add a toolbar which can be useful for comparing sites of similar ilk.

Hi Pauline and Pikeman

Thanks! Smiler

The magazine article wouldn't have been due to the change in status. Although the MCF is due to issue its first press release shortly, which I hope generates awareness.

I'll have to check out Alexa in more detail over time. Good to know that our ranking has improved; we rank no.1 on google for """mouth cancer""" in the free listings and from there on, we rank very high for many other related key phrases on the major search portals.

All the best, Krishan :coffee:

Congratulations on the website Krishan. I am completely overcome by the cleverness of how people do it. I must learn how to set one up as I have an idea. And getting such a top rating from Google. Excellent. I'll look forward to reading that press release. I'll be telling my specialist, Mr Duncan Mcrae about the site when I see him on Tuesday although he probably knows anyway. No harm in bringing flowers for the teacher!

Ishbel and Krishan the Alexa ranking is the ranking of a site in all the web sites in the world. Of this yahoo is the number 1 site with google about 4. So anything in the top Alexa 100,000 is doing really well.

We have 3 web sites, mine around Alexa 54,000 currently coming up number 1 in both google and yahoo for fashion history and my husband's main one about 70,000 and we have another one at about 159,000. The last one has been slow to take off, but what we noticed when we launched that earlier this year was that there were something like 5,500,000 sites altogether on line and ofcoursae there are many sub sites hosted within those listings.

So the Mouth Cancer site has done really well to be moving up so fast when one considers all the competitive medical sites out there. There are many health sites so competition is huge.

Thank you for the Alexa info Pauline. Your fashion history knowledge must be quite something. And I should think the nuances of fennel and cod in texture and shading could be a trend to look out for in 2005. Make sure you copyright it. These fashionista pirates are everywhere!
I found the roulade was just a bit rich for my cake-starved tummy. But a nice woman across the road popped in to tell me the latest episode of her schizophrenic son's terrible time----what a vale of tears sometimes isn't it---and a big slice of the roulade cheered her up enormously!

Never mind Ishbel - you have to keep trying the odd new thing. Think I eat too much cream to make things go down easily. But no longer eat meat at all since treatment, and don't have clutchy bread so no butter on that, so hope this allows for the some fat some other way.

Schizophrenia must be hard for carers I know some patients are reluctant to take the tablets once they feel well and then spiral down again. Glad your cake came in handy, it is an excellent buy.

Hi Krishan, Good luck with MCF.
Have I read it wrong or is it a merger of sites to give better ideas and commication for suffers and their Cares?
I hope it is not going to become Americanised ( I use this term loosly)

Hello Pauline--still on the subject of food. I had a hopeless non-meal of braised beef which I ground down but it wouldn't stay down. No what I have realised is that food prepared by other people seems to be much nicer. Not that they are better at it. But as you know it is a bit of a pain preparing its. Hours to prepare and hours to eat. Time well spent, yes. You could call it a life preserver!
But if the meal has been prepared by somebody else, just now and again, it is almost a pleasure. But I still prefer to eat separately as I don't want to put others off their heaped platters.
Tomorrow--today--I am going for lunch with some friends who know the drill and it will be lovely to give that old blender a rest!
Managed to cough up a lot of phlegm tonight after a steam infusion made with fresh thyme and eucalyptus. Interesting to see if the effects last the night. Ishbel

Hi everyone

Thanks for the well wishes! Smiler

The """Mouth Cancer Foundation""" is not a merger. The new name adds credibility, is easier to understand and the Foundation aims to do more than just provide the online resource/support that was initiated by RDOC; the Foundation will hopefully grow into a substantial charity.

The Alexa rating is a useful tool; I know Google have a page rank tool bar. But maybe """fashion""" websites are more popular than """mouth cancer""" websites? Well, I'll have to work on our ranking, any tips? Do let me know!

All the best people! Krishan :coffee:

Hi Krishan
Krishan I'll send you a private email in the next week about this and what we have found, but am really busy right now. You are doing really well. Your alexa ranking today is even better at 157,644.
Whilst more people generally may be interested in fashion and more people are interested in making sites on it to sell clothes etc., it is a hugely competitive keyword. Fewer people probably make sites on mouth cancer, but I am sure that most of those that search key in that keyword phrase. I suspect only really erudite people like Vinod or other consultants might key in restorative dentistry and that is why you are climbing so fast again in addition to the fact that you have very good content.

Content is king as they say.
