Lately I have been receiving Indian Head Massage treatment and and Upper Body Massage at my local clinic.

I had these treatments before for Ulcerative Colitis and they are great for relaxation and mind peace
Unfortunatey they can be quite expensive but I sacrafice other things for this as it makes me feel really good

Anyone else here indulge?

I too indulged for some time with various massages at my local Cancer Community Centre and found they really helped me to cope. The reflexology in particular was a pleasant therapy.

Whilst I was undergoing my rt, I had a weekly reflexology session at the Macmillan centre in Southampton hospital; it was very relaxing and helped me cope with the pain and nausea at the time.

Hi Robert,

George has indulged quite a lot in complementary stuff.
When he was 1st diagnosed 8 years ago, he had several visits to the Bristol cancer care Centre (now www.PennyBrohn Cancercare.org) where he was introduced to a wide range of complemenatry approaches - nutrition, massage, yoga, art therapy, meditation etc etc.
He continued with the vitamin supplements and meditation after that and goes to local meditation classes, which he finds very useful. He also has/is using herbal and homeopathic remedies.
He's having radiotherapy at the moment at North Staffs Hospital (are we near you?) and is taking homeopathic remedies prescribed by the Bristol Doctor to help limit the damage.
Also I've done a year of a 3 year training course in Shiatsu therapy (beware those not registered with the Shiatsu Society & offering 'Shiatsu massage') so use it on him sometimes.
I think anything that makes you feel more in control, that you're doing something for yourself, relaxes you, improves your feeling of wellbeing etc has to have a positive effect on your immune system. That includes laughter therapy....

Hi,
I love my aromatherapy massages they so help with my shoulder problems and stiff neck. I am lucky I have friends that also do reflexology- she spotted something wrong in my neck. How amazing from just fiddling with your feet?
I also have a friend that does the Bowen technique (look it up). This is a bit odd but does work.
As you say anything that can give you that feel good factor must be the right thing to do.
