I am asking the question on behalf of my husband, who has recently discovered a lump. The lump is situated between the Submental area and the Parotid gland. It appears round and it soft and moveable. My husband has recently undergone dental treatment to a tooth that had an infection in it prior to it being filled. He had suffered with the tooth for about 2 months prior to having treatment to fill the tooth. This lump has apeared over night and is not painful or sensitive. Although this lump is on the opposite side of the face to that of the recent treatment, I wondered it it could be related? Would you recommend this be looked at? could it be possible it is a build up of fluid? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If your husband has been having dental treatment it's possible the lump is related however ANY lump, in my opinion should be checked out and the sooner the better. Prevention is better than cure any day.

I am not an expert in this case and my advice should not be taken as such BUT I had a lump that appeared on my Kneck near the jawline, I delayed in seeing my own GP(he was on holidays)and so it was 10 days before I saw him and when he saw the lump everything happened quickly ,Scans showed that there was a swollen Lympth Node and the next week it was excised CANCER . This may not be the case and I hope it is not BUT don't put off seeing your Doctor and make sure that he gets it scaned, if it's nothing GOOD, if it's not nice then you have got onto it as quick as you could have, mine was fixed up and I had my treatment and I was cleared (SO FAR). The rest of my drama you will have to read about as I could fill a couple of books with the rest.
DON'T DELAY get it checked out.

A lump on the opposite side is 99.99% unrelated to the recent dental work.

Please get your husband to see his doctor for an opinion. If he is unable to explain it satisfactorily, ask for referral to the local ENT/OMFS depts for investigation. There can be no diagnosis with getting it seen to. So as Trev said, DON'T DELAY seeing your doctor.

I found a small pea size lump by my jaw next to the TMJ joint, ear area, it is painful and it moves around, when i turn my head, bend over etc it causes pain. It seems like it just appreared. Is this something that might be muscle related? i do wear ear plugs at night, would this possible cause this lump?
