toothache!

hi everyone
me again having a moan as usual, this time its toothache,i have had it for about 3 weeks now, i went to see my dentist a fortnight ago and she gave me antibiotics for an infection which she said was in the gum of the tooth i was complaining about, told me to go back in two weeks which was today.i was so hoping she was going to do an extraction because i have been taking paracetamol plus every 4 hours for 3 weeks and with no food apart from the peg feed going it has not done my stomach any favours.she looked at it today and said its not one tooth its 2 of them but she said she didn't want to take them out because i had had radiotheraphy last year so therefore she felt the best place was hospital to get them removed.i have never had any problems before with extractions so i was rather surprised to say the least.i now have to wait for the hospital appt which she has said she will state its urgent.so its carrying on with the paracetamol a bit longer it seems.the other week what with the constipation as well i could not decide which end of me hurt the blooming most!is this normal to be referred to hospital for an extraction after radiotheraphy?love shirl xxx

Hi Shirl

Sorry to hear of your toothache. Yes there can be problems with an extraction after Radiotherapy. I am sure someone will be along with the technical details. My son had a wisdom tooth took out at the QA near you within a few weeks of treatment ending. His swollen gum had moved one a bit sideways and they wanted out then rather than later on down the line which was something to do with his radiotherapy. So it's not just your dentist being awkward. Hope you don't have to wait too long. Take Care

Hi Shirl, I had to go back to hospital to have a tooth out after RT. I think if the tooth is near the RT site then it can make extraction a bit more complicated. Dont think it's anything to worry about, it wasn't in my case. Bloody RT complicates everything. Hagg.

Shirl,
All the vommiting you're doing is really only going to make your situation with your teeth worse.
You CAN break the cycle. You really need to get on top of it!
I suffer with heart burn frequently because of all the throwing up i did. Every day, all day, for 3 months.
You don't have to keep waiting for it to go away on it's own! Cuz it wont!

hi chelle
i am still waiting to be seen by a bariatric specialist about all the vomiting he is the guy that did my weightloss surgery 2 years ago.my oncologist suspects that its that giving me trouble today i have been retching about a dozen times and my stomach feels like its got great big hunger pains going on in there.then to top it all off my tongue feels like its on fire and what little taste buds i had have totally vanished.my tongue has been looked at and he said well its not thrush and left it at that!he admitted that i should be further on then i am after my husband asked him why i am having so many problems.a year on i thought things should be getting better but i take 2 steps forward and 3 back all the time.anyway chelle enough about me and my moans how are you doing lovey?hope you are well.thanks for the replies about the dentist and radiotheraphy its much appreciated.love shirl xxx
