Sorry its so long but please read it all
i'm 17 years old and dont drink or use any tobbacco. last week i noticed this pinhead sized bump on the roof of my mouth. idk how long its been there for it is pretty hard from what i can tell and it is painless. it is just left of the center of my mouth on the hard palate. I was looking at this clay molding of my mouth that the dentist who did my braces did before i got braces and i can see the same bump in it in the same spot. it looks a little bigger now and it might be a little bit bigger because i've been touching it with my tounge. that was about 4 or 5 years ago(that model) but idk
any ideas on what it is?
PS i brush my teeth twice a day and have only had 2 cavities.
my next dentist appointment is in 4 months. is that soon enough to get it checked out?
its just like a random bump on the normally smooth part of the mouth
if it doesnt go away in 2 weeks i'm getting a doctors appointment. (do you think thats soon enough?)

i dont know how to edit stuff i already wrote but here are some fixers.
the bump is about the size of the tip of a pin.
i'm 99.99% sure it is not a torus.
it seems a lot smaller in the model
thank you for responding i have been freaking out lately

Hello Brandon

If it was there that long, it is unlikely to be a mouth cancer. It could just be a normal bump in the palate - a variation of the torus. You have also grown since and that could account for it seeming bigger than on the model and things do feel bigger to the tongue that when visually observed. Let us know what your doctor thinks it is when you see him/her in 2 weeks time.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes

Thank you Dr. Joshi
I am not completely sure about the clay model thing any more. If i hadnt have metioned that do you think it would be bad?
Also i went to my normal family doctor today and he said it just looked like a normal part of my anatomy. He seemed a little confused. He didnt feel it or anything.
Should i get a second opinion?
i have an orthodonist appointment in 20 days and i could ask about it then. do you think that would be soon enough or should i just stop worrying?
