HI Guys, I keep hearing this advert for Cancer research and I am concerned it is sending out the wrong message!
1.It says I lost all my friends
2. But now I am ok got the all clear thanks to Cancer Reseach?
It makes it Cancer sound so flippant and people will think its ok if I get CANCER the Cancer Reseach will cure me!!
That is the way I hear it?
I may be wrong?
My god I think these people should have talked to the guys on here? :banghead:
Specially when like in my case you get the "all clear" and a month later you are having a 11hr 45min operation followed by Radiotherapy which changes your life forever.

Have a good day guys

comment please.

G'day Paul.

I, too, have viewed that advert. strangely I didn't think of it as being flippant. It struck me as being out of touch with reality.

OK I can understand that that they're seeking to re-assure people by stressing that there's hope etc.

BUT I don't actually know anybody who's been told "You're all clear". I've read what happened to you and in my simple way I always thought your doctors were just a tad optimistic telling you you were clear so soon after your initial op.

I'm two and a half years on from my op and still having three monthly clinics.

I'd be interested to hear other peoples views on the advert.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this! It took me a long time to stop turning off the previous campaign off! But these have just knocked that feeling back again!
Asking my family about them & they feel that the message they portray is that it's giving hope to people who might get cancer and not to be scared of it!
I suppose we'll all have different opinions from people who've never had it!
Would I be wrong in guessing that the people featured are just actors?

Hi Alan - Cancer-research using actors, surely not !!

Seriously though, following Paul's initial posting I asked my daughter what she thought of the advert. To my surprise she found it "hilarious" (she's an ex-nurse).

My wife, hopefully recovering from breast cancer, has the same view as you.

Wonder what other people (and their families) think.
